We visited the Como Park Zoo on a very busy Saturday afternoon. While there, we visited several animal species as well as viewing a sea lion show. The zoo is small but nice. Our favorite animal was the polar bear. He enjoyed swimming, pacing, and playing with a big blue barrel. He was quite entertaining. Visiting the zoo is free, but donations are appreciated. Though crowded, we enjoyed our visit. It was a nice way to pass a few hours on a warm summer day.

Visitor notes
Smaller than other zoos I've been to but it's entirely free, with a modest donation suggested though not asked for. Very popular with kids and adults. Available food is basic and between 12 to 18, plus 5 for a drink. It's old but it's an institution and well worth the visit.
I absolutely love the conservatory section of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. Walking through the tropical greenhouse feels like stepping into another world, especially during Minnesota winters. The variety of plants, flowers, and lush greenery is impressive, and everything is beautifully maintained. The seasonal displays are always worth seeing, and there are plenty of opportunities for great photos. This is also a wonderful place for families with children. Kids can explore nature up close, learn about different plants, and enjoy the colorful environment in a safe and relaxing setting. The atmosphere is peaceful, educational, and inspiring for visitors of all ages. One of my favorite places in Saint Paul, and I always look forward to coming back. Highly recommended!
Como Zoo always impresses me. You only need to donate a suggested amount of $8/adult and $5/child. Soooo helpful if you have financial restraints. Going in early May, I wasn't expecting all the bells and whistles, but almost every animal was still available to see. The park itself is really easy to navigate and is pretty much a circle that leads you to each exhibit. Highly recommend.
A year round experience for the whole family even in winter ❄️. A medium size zoo enough for a couple hours. Can pack your own lunch and find a space to eat. Has suggested donation rates for entry. Staff are eager to teach about animals and conservation. Parking gets more busy on weekends also because it's nextdoor to Comotown small amusement park.
This was an amazing zoo and a perfect way to spend 1/2 a day if you include the gorgeous conservatory in a visit, which you should - the indoor jungle is packed with exotic flora and features a highly popular "spice" section with fruit trees & unusual plants (like ipecac, turmeric, chocolate, and air potato!) The grounds are well maintained and even though admission - and parking - is free, a donation is most certainly deserved. The pop machines were all sold out, so BYOB and plenty of snacks!
Como Zoo is a beautiful zoo, that has been regularly improved through the years to keep habitats updated and the animals happy. It runs on donations made for entry. There are recommended amounts, however donations are not required, and anyone can enter regardless of ability to donate. There is a really fun Sea Lion show, and many other demonstrations. And a number of attractions like a small amusement park, classic carousel, and the really spectacular Conservatory.
I had a wonderful experience. Nice weather and it wasn't crowded!! I enjoyed seeing giraffes, tigers, and so many more. The conservatory was really nice. My only disappointment was not being able to see, Neil, the polar bear!! He was inside another area and didn't come into view!! Maybe next time, Neil!!😂😂😂
