Red Hills Desert Garden

Beautiful paths among the marked garden. A stream with fish in it runs through. It is set before the red rock area that you can visit during the same day. No cost. Some educational aspects on different levels of the garden paths. Some benches and a swing to sit on. Much of it is paved, some trails.

The natural beauty of this place is breathtaking. Heck, the drive up was awe inspiring, surrounded by steep red rock cliffs. They have tons of desert plants, from palm trees to sage, and a nice little stream that runs through the garden. Depending on the time of year, come early in the day. It was 104 in June and I had to stop after a lap and a half because i felt the early stages of dehydration. Bring water to drink. That rule applies to any outdoor area you might be out in. Bring at least a quart for every hour on hot days and during strenuous activity. I cannot stress enough that if you're from a humid area, the dry heat is deceptive and can hit you seemingly out of nowhere if you aren't hydrating. The park has water fountains at the beginning in case you need a quick drink, but as I said, bring water. If you're fascinated by desert landscapes then this is the place for you. Pioneer Park is so accessible in the main entrance.

This garden is wonderful to visit year round! I love the plant diversity, the occasional bird I see, and the countless spring blooms. The many walking paths accomodate quite a number of people so I never feel crowded. What a living textbook for young people to learn from.

Love it, amazing layout, beautiful garden, overall, only enjoyment when walking around! The rocks to walk on are within a short path distance, and for people from out of town, this free Garden area quickly became a one a day thing while in St. George. To those who work / maintain the Garden(s), thank you and keep it up! :)

I can't say enough lovely things about this free spot to explore in St. George! There did seem to be a lot of people there, including some field trip visitors, but there's a variety of paths that allow everybody to spread out and have their own space and their own experience. Everything is well-maintained and I saw a variety of wildlife from large dragonflies, many kinds of birds, and several lizards. I would recommend stopping here to explore.

Red Hills Desert Garden is a beautifully designed space that highlights the natural beauty of Utah’s desert environment. The garden features well-marked trails, informative displays about native plants and wildlife, and plenty of scenic spots to relax and take photos. It’s a peaceful, educational stop that’s perfect for a short walk. To add on icing on the cake, it is free.

We visited the holiday lights event here at the gardens while vacationing for NYE and were pleasantly surprised. I can’t believe how many displays there were! There were so many creative and unusual displays. So many great photo opportunities too. Even in the chilly weather my daughter was attached to the surroundings. She was in a sour mood prior to arriving, but the minute she stepped into this garden her whole mood changed! This event was magical! We loved the trails, zooming in and out of the display areas, eyeballing ever little thing. So much to see! I think we went around twice ! Every year we make it a habit to go see Holiday Lights around Christmas/NYE-it’s our tradition. This one was our personal favorite! The candy lane and animal displays were my favorites! Wonderful night! Thank you for this gem!

This Red Hills Desert Garden is an awesome place, Our first visit here. Though it is hot all around, but the clear weather accentuates its beauty clay hills.
