Norma's Cafe

It was date night and I had seen a Facebook reel promoting Norma's and it looked good plus the Americana style was awesome. We arrived and its located in a big shopping center with many stores and restaurants. We entered and were seated quickly. You are surrounded with so many historical items that will bring you a smile. I ordered the chicken fried steak that I saw on FB and wife ordered catfish. Our server was kind and brought us cornbread to munch on while we waited for our food. The restrooms are located at the back of the restaurant next to Big Boy. The chicken fried steak sides were ok (broccoli, okra, green beans). The actual steak had the oil taste which was strong. The catfish did not taste good. Our server offered apple pie and that was good. I think we will be back but for breakfast. The service and environment were good yet the main dishes not as good as seen on Facebook.

Candace and I had a wonderful time eating out at Normas Cafe in Plano TX. I really appreciate my friend and coworker Jerry Hodges for taking us out ans suggesting Normas Cafe. The food at Normas have a nice seasoned home town flavor. The taste is literally like being served from your grandmother's kitchen. I had the chicken fried steak which was a hearty size. The sides carrots, blackened peas mashed potatoes, and green beans had such flavor and texture. The taste really made my taste buds take my wife and I back to our child hoods. My wife couldn't stop talking about the sweet tea. After dinner we had some delicious desserts. Pies, and cobbler were not let down either. The drive from Mt.Vernon to here which was about 1 hour 40 minutes was well worth it. I would recommend anyone to Normas cafe. They have a great staff that made us feel welcome. Our waitress was named Vivian. She did a very good job and was very helpful with the suggestions. I give Normas 5 stars due to how the staff was and how the food was well placed and delicious. Also the restaurant was very clean and taken care of

First time here and was pleasantly surprised at the free rolls and cornbread for the table! Went on a Saturday around lunchtime and they were getting pretty busy. Our waitress was working very hard but was juggling a lot of tables so we didn’t get checked on u til the end. I had a club sandwich, my husband had a burger and my daughter had the kids eggs and biscuit. All were cooked hot and fresh and tasted good. The vibe of the place is what’s really cool. Reminds me of diner’s my grandparents used to take me to when I was little.

Food was great! Order size was huge. Marissa was took great care of me. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and helped me out. Definitely coming back to try something new!

I love how this restaurant is decorated. But the food was not good. I had chicken and dumplings. There was hardly any chicken in it and the dumplings were big clods of dough. It tasted like a dough ball. Little chicken flavor. The sauce had dried away a long time before I saw it. Chicken and dumplings are served as a "special" on Wednesday and Saturday. I was so disappointed. The macaroni and cheese had very little cheese flavor, and even the okra had little flavor. The cornbread seemed dry, or undercooked. I could not tell. It was not like normal cornbread. I suspect they have big vats of food sitting in the kitchen and it sits there for hours, while any flavor it had just goes away. The picture of the dumplings was on a plate at my house, after I brought home leftovers. I did not want to offend the person who took me there for lunch. The staff seemed pretty unhappy to be there.

The food was fantastic, we had the roast and the lemon pie. The ranch dressing on the salad was also terrific, and the rolls and cornbread were as well. The service was great and the atmosphere was fun.

We Absolutely love Norma's Cafe in Plano, TX!!!! The moment you walk in, the welcoming atmosphere makes you feel right at home. We went on their 70th anniversary. They had $2 plates of chicken fried steak or chicken with mashed potaties and green beans. We thought it would be slow and we were wrong. Got seated fast, and got our order very fast. Food was hot and fresh. Service was friendly. And portions were large enough to get us stuffed!
