I loved it. It's perfect for someone who appreciates birds and nature but might not have time or physical ability to walk through an entire zoo or larger place. It's a short yet very sweet day outing. The staff is excellent! Everyone is so friendly and goes out of their way to help and give you information. Seeing the penguins and sloth up close was a wonderful experience. Perfect for families, couples or solo people. Just a fun day.

Opinioni dei visitatori
We visited this museum last week during a trip to Pittsburgh. Admission was slightly over $20 per person, which felt somewhat high relative to the overall experience. The facility is fairly small and can be fully explored in under 30 minutes. During our visit, the wetlands area had very few birds, and the ones present did not participate during the scheduled feeding. The penguin exhibit was also limited, with only a few penguins. Parking in the area is limited and often full, so it’s best to plan ahead. Overall, while the museum may be a quick and convenient stop, it may be worth considering if you are nearby, but it may not be a must-visit destination.
What an amazing place! We had our son and daughter-in-law's Rehearsal Dinner there and it was a most wonderful evening! The venue is just so special and beautiful and you feel like you are in an enchanted garden. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We had an encounter with a penguin as our guests arrived and they loved it! If you are looking for the BEST place to have a wedding or rehearsal dinner...we recommend the National Aviary highly!!
We had a great visit to the National Aviary. The staff were very patient and friendly, and they were happy to answer questions and help visitors learn more about the birds. There is a wide variety of birds to see, and some areas allow you to get very close to them, which makes the experience much more fun and memorable. It’s a nice place for both kids and adults, especially if you enjoy animals and want a more interactive experience than a typical zoo visit.
THE BEST zoo experience I have ever had. Reasonably priced tickets and guest shop, and a variety of experiences to choose from that are ALSO affordable. We paid $4 to feed these beautiful lorikeets. WHAT? Wild. And if that wasn't enough, guess what? THE BIRDS WALK AROUND YOU PHYSICALLY. Some are in cages/enclosures but most are just chilling and walking around. Absolutely amazing. Can't recommend this place enough.
We had an amazing experience with the national aviary this morning! We went right when they open at 10 AM so we were the first ones in the door. It was fun too walk around all the areas. We especially enjoyed the tropical and wetland sections. We were lucky enough to see the sloth moving around one of the knowledgeable employees said that the sloth is active around 10 AM while it tries to find a spot for the day. I also got to see the penguin feeding place at 10:30 AM. They gave us lots of information about the Penguins while they fed them fresh fish. The aviary had a lot of fun things for children to do. They had a coloring station and a few sensory bins that the kids could play with. It was very engaging and fun for my almost two year-old. There is a parking lot that you can use however we were there early so we just did street barking. On our way out, we grabbed a cookie from the kookaburra café. There aren’t many meal choices there, but they have the basics like salads, wraps, and chicken tenders! An adult admission was about $20 and children under two were free. Our street parking cost about three dollars so overall it was a great experience for a decent price. It was well worth it! We will definitely be back soon.
Unique treasure on Pittsburgh's North Side...well informed and articulate volunteer tour guides (shout out to Mev, on 6/8/26) who helped spot the species and shared fun facts about the birds, their native habitat and the exhibit. Plan three hours for a leisurely tour, and maybe a snack from the cafe! An afternoon of awe...take time to enjoy!
Best day ever at the Avairy! We had the pleasure of having all 3 animal encounters. Each one was better than the next. Very knowledgeable and informative staff! You can tell they have a passion for care and education
