Rosson House Museum at The Square PHX

Olivia was my guide through Phoenix’s Victorian history. She did a great job touching on the home’s architectural charms and quirks (fancy spindles, painted ceilings, home intercom system and unique switchable doorbell), the history of the families who lived there (an ill-tempered doctor, a wealthy wife, a saloon-keeping couple who ran afoul of Prohibition laws), and the unique artifacts in the house itself (bereavement hair jewelry, a clever waffle maker and a Taj Mahal bird cage). And she did it all in one hour while showing so many rooms and answering all of our questions. On a very hot day, it was nice the house is air conditioned and free water was provided. The parking garage is right next door for easy access. Make sure they add a sticker code to your parking ticket - it saves a lot of money when you exit. Great experience!

Victorian Gem in Downtown Phoenix 🏛️🌴 | Rosson House Museum at Heritage Square We visited the Rosson House Museum while exploring downtown Phoenix and it’s one of the most charming historical spots in the city. The house itself is a beautifully preserved Victorian-style home built in the late 1800s, with intricate woodwork, tall windows, and that signature pointed tower roof that instantly catches your eye. Even though the museum was closed when we arrived, walking around the exterior and gardens was still a memorable experience. The surrounding Heritage Square is peaceful and very well maintained, with green lawns, brick walkways, and shaded sitting areas that make it easy to imagine life here more than a century ago. There’s also a small café and bar (Stemistry) right next to the main building, offering outdoor seating with a perfect view of the historic architecture — a great spot to relax before or after your visit. Paid street parking is available nearby, and there are several public garages around the square within a short walk. The area is also close to other attractions like the Arizona Science Center and Children’s Museum of Phoenix, so it’s easy to include as part of a downtown sightseeing day. If you appreciate history, architecture, or just love photographing beautiful old homes, Rosson House Museum is a must-stop in Phoenix. 🌵📸

Went on a ghost tour and it was a history tour. We thought we were going on a ghost tour of the Rosson House but we didn't even get to go inside. I thought it was a museum night tour. So I was very disappointed. However Lucus did a nice history tour of downtown. But not what I was expecting.

We had Olivia as our tour guide she was super knowledgeable. It was cool how much Arizona history is tied to this house. A “smart house” 50 years ahead of its time. The tours are like every hour on the hour and about 45 min. Super worth it- was very cool

A little gem of what's left of the original residential history of Phoenix. They give tours, and the reconstruction is fabulous. Also, the artifacts are period, though not the original from the home. All is beautiful and fun to give it an afternoon. I love supporting local projects like this. I hope you will too.

Great idea for a hot summer , as they have air conditioners inside , all while you learn about the history of the house. You can buy tickets at their visitor center by the museum or reserve them online on the website . It was very easy to book and we also benefited from their summer special: $13.00 per ticket. The tour took 45 minutes, the guide spoke a little faster which was a little hard for me to follow. The building is from 1895 and you can see how they preserved those elements, even the stair case is from the beginning and it was ordered from a catalog. You have to stay on the red carpet while inside , you can take pictures without flash and try not to touch the items. The museum is right by the Public Parking , and you can easily walk to it.

Super fun and the tour guide was very knowledgeable about all the fun facts about early phoenix so much fun $15 each ticket. We had a group of 4 and it turned out to be just us because the other people didnt show so it feels like a private tour it was awesome 👍👍👍👍 great historical facts about Phoenix. History aficionados, architectural enthusiasts and Fans of Phoenix – Rosson House Museum is one place you cannot miss! It is an incredible work of art, craftmanship, technology and innovation, even after 130 years of its construction in 1895. Setting aside that one can actually attend what Victorians’ interest of communicating with the dead through in house scheduled Séances, Rosson House offers a magnificent view and experience of that bygone age at the turn of the century industrialization which can only be likened to our recent 21st Century internet technological advances. Walking through the main door into the foyer, climbing the beautiful staircase, entering a bed chamber, seeing a pre-modern bathroom, admiring the kitchen and pantry antiquities in food preparation, admiring the home’s décor, its design, its furnishings simply takes you back in time and allows one to somewhat sense the then lifestyle and what it was like to live a sophisticated, well-to-do lifestyle during that period. One is amazed at the stunning quality and fastidious workmanship created and implemented almost six generations ago! And compare the quality and art Rosson House personifies to today’s Ikea and unassembled products. With every turn, every corner, every step and every breath of one’s journey through this place in history is enjoyable and fascinating. The folks who walk you through this historic menagerie are professional and delightful, as well as brilliant in their presentation and knowledge of all things Rosson. I must say, this has been one of my most memorable attractions to attend in Phoenix and wholeheartedly recommend if you’ve not visited to do so as well as bringing out of town friends and family. The restoration and preservation of Rosson House is most admirable. And, make sure to stop off at the Museum Store – its well worth it.
