Hall of Flame Fire Museum

This is a great museum! It has four large indoor rooms, bigger than a Costco. Most of the vehicles are roped off because they are authentic and old. There is one fire truck to climb in, and firefighter jackets, helmets, and boots to wear. And there is a decent sized kids area to play in, including a fire pole to slide down. Great for kids!

The sheer scale of the museum is surprising. They have several massive galleries filled with original firefighting equipment dating back to the 1700s. Seeing the evolution from hand-drawn pumps and horse-drawn carriages to the massive motorized engines of the 20th century is fascinating. Everything is beautifully restored; the brass is polished to a mirror finish, and the paint jobs on the vintage rigs are stunning. It’s like walking through a timeline of American heroics. ​A Wealth of Knowledge ​What really makes the experience "human" is the staff and volunteers. You aren't just looking at silent machines; the people working there are incredibly knowledgeable. Many are retired firefighters themselves, and they can tell you the specific story behind almost every piece of equipment—where it served, the type of fires it fought, and the technical quirks of how it operated. They are clearly passionate about preserving the history of the trade, and that enthusiasm is contagious. ​More Than Just Trucks ​Beyond the engines, the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes is a deeply moving tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. It adds a layer of respect and gravity to the visit that makes it more than just a "cool garage" for old trucks. ​Bottom line: Whether you’re a local or just passing through, give yourself a few hours here. It’s a hidden gem that manages to be both educational and genuinely inspiring.

We visited the Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting on a Friday around 11 a.m. with my two boys (9 and 7 years old), and had a great experience. We stayed for about an hour and a half, and it was not busy at all, which made it easy to enjoy everything at our own pace. The museum is very well kept, and we were able to see all the galleries, take photos, and really take our time. My boys asked lots of questions throughout the visit, which made it even more fun and engaging. One of the highlights was talking to two staff members who were experienced firefighters. They were very welcoming, knowledgeable, and great with kids. My boys loved hearing their stories and learning directly from them. There is plenty of parking, and this is an excellent indoor activity for the hotter days in the Phoenix area. It’s not the cheapest activity, but definitely one that feels worth it. I would absolutely recommend it to families visiting or living in the Valley.

I’ve lived in the Scottsdale area for over 20 years, and I can’t believe I've not been here earlier but I visited last week and was blown away by the immense variety and educational aspects of this place, the largest firefighting museum in the world. From beautifully restored engines to artifacts spanning more than a century or two from around the globe, every display tells an incredible story. You can really feel the passion and dedication of the people who work here. Their love for preserving firefighting history shows. The building itself is a bit unassuming, tucked away without much signage, but once you step inside, it’s like entering another world. And for those visiting in the summer, it’s wonderfully airconditioned. Don’t miss this fascinating, heartfelt tribute to those who’ve served in fire rescue. It’s too good to pass up.

An amazing collection of historical firefighting equipment from before the United States became an independent nation through the September 11, 2001 tragedy. Beautifully presented perfectly restored trucks and artifacts. An audio guide from a downloaded app adds to the enjoyment of specific trucks. Nice gift shop. And many helpful informative forner firefighters on hand to explain the museum's collection and answer questions. Well worth an hour of time.

I took my kids to the Hall of Flame Fire Museum a couple of weeks ago. It was a fantastic venue and the decent was excellent. Its an incredible history museum and a fire safety primer all rolled into one. The decent read the kids a story about fire safety, provided a tour, and the kids got to play on one of the engines and a play area at the back to complete the experience. Fantastic outing, every child in the state should go there on a class field trip or with their family.

The Hall of Flame is the gold standard for fire museums. It features amazingly restored apparatus and expertly curated history. The facility is massive; plan for at least 1-2 hours for a quick overview, but allow 3-4 hours to truly appreciate the depth of the collection. It is an amazing facility, chock-full of educational history and rare, one-of-a-kind items that pay homage to our brave firefighters. I highly recommend it and will definitely return.

Amazing museum! Very knowledgeable and helpful volunteers. What a great collection of antique fire engines, patches, helmets and lots of other ggear. The back room with the FDNY truck from 9/11 is a beautiful tribute. Highly worth a visit!
