The Desert Botanical Garden was one of the highlights of my trip to Arizona. The garden is beautifully maintained and offers an incredible opportunity to experience the unique beauty of the Sonoran Desert up close. The walking paths are easy to navigate, well-marked, and provide stunning views of native cacti, desert wildflowers, succulents, and other plants that thrive in the Arizona climate. I was impressed by how educational the experience was. There are informative displays throughout the garden that explain the history, ecology, and importance of desert conservation. The staff and volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to answer questions. Despite the desert setting, there are plenty of shaded areas, water stations, and places to sit and enjoy the scenery. The garden is also a fantastic place for photography, with beautiful landscapes and unique plant collections around every corner. Whether you’re a nature lover, visiting with family, or simply looking for a peaceful place to spend a few hours, this attraction is well worth the visit. I would highly recommend arriving early in the morning or near sunset for the most comfortable temperatures and the best lighting. A truly memorable Arizona experience! 🌵☀️📸

This place reimagines what a botanical garden can be. It’s the best I’ve ever been to. It has an extensive cactus collection, thoughtful art exhibits, and it celebrates local history and culture. For a little bit more, you can become an annual member and come back to this beautiful garden (and over 300 gardens throughout the US) anytime as a part of your membership. As well, memberships are tax deductible! One could easily spend several hours here. Stop by the gift shop and restaurant for local crafts and cuisine.

One of the best botanical gardens I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. Went on a Wednesday evening, bought tickets there, no wait. Well maintained, friendly check in, and rich in wild life…. I loved seeing all the different kinds of cacti and plants. Saw bunnies, snakes, roadrunners, and many kinds of birds. Sunset was absolutely beautiful and loved seeing how the plants lit up at night. So beautiful. I will be visiting again!

Came here for the night lights in July and it was amazing. The way well placed lighting can showcase, textures and aspects of the plants is not to be understated. The color palette is definitely a bit psychedelic, which gives it a very dreamy feel. Artfully built grounds that are just beautiful to walk around and even during the day and a really fantastic variety of desert adapted plants from around the world with good interpretation signs about the differences.

Would absolutely recommend a trip to the desert botanical garden! I was visiting AZ for a short two day trip and this was a really nice way to experience and learn about some of the native Arizona vegetation all in one place. Chihuly glass is an added bonus - I just love those art pieces! Even more beautiful seeing them lit up at night on the way out. Parking wasn’t hard to find and it was free. We did book in advance, but probably didn’t need to based on the crowd level when we went around 6pm. Definitely worth the visit!!

This is such a lovely well curated garden. Easy trails to walk, lots of helpful staff. So much nature, it was incredible to see. I saw butterflies, baby quail, prairie dogs, bees, tadpoles, frogs, rabbits and more! I recommend going early in the morning (it's cooler and less crowded). People really start to show up around 10:30 AM, I arrived at 8:30 and briskely walked all the gardens by 10:30 as I had a schedule to keep. They have several sculptures and an immersive video experience as well included in the price. I even saw guest enjoy motorized wheelchairs so that they could particpate as well. The trails are very well paved in fine gravel.

My family and I really enjoyed visiting this garden. I highly recommend going later in the afternoon or toward the evening when the sun isn’t as intense: much more enjoyable temperature wise. The amount of cacti and desert plants is fascinating and there’s plenty to see when you walk through the trails. We also saw several animals, including wild rabbits and roadrunners. One thing to keep in mind is that admission tickets can be a bit expensive, especially for larger groups or families. Because of that, I’d recommend setting aside enough time to fully explore the garden and get the most value out of your visit. Overall, it’s a beautiful place and definitely worth visiting if you’re in the Phoenix area.
