Visitor notes
I’m not even gonna go into half of the stuffs I’ve seen and experienced here…but all I’m going to say for now is they do NOT take you being sexually assaulted serious!!! I was sexually assaulted in my sleep by another woman that has been kicked out MULTIPLE TIMES from this shelter, and they kept letting her back. Two weeks ago that same female touched me in my sleep and what do you know..the shelter manager Jennifer let her right back in. When it happened and I reported it to them, I was told they’d have to “ catch her in the act” to be able to put her out. Which is such an odd thing to say but hey….anyways it’s been only a few days and the same person who SEXUALLY ASSAULTED me in my sleep is back and doing the same harassing stuff she has been doing for months now. If you are a victim of rape or any assault please find you somewhere safer and with staffs that’ll actually care.
The people are very attentive and watchful if you stand out but if you don't then you will need to figure out who your case manager is and you have to talk with them and get a therapist about being alone. If you enjoy the homeless life then there are activities and group sessions held at day centers rather it's hot or cold there are also events held at low income houses and food is served sometimes. There may also be opportunities available for college or for resources as well as case managers for different reasons or different needs that need to be accommodated for yourself. Or licensed workers that will help you establish your needs. The system is built for you to get better and to become successful or for you to retire comfortably but you need to ask for the help and comply. The daily activities and events are posted throughout shelters and where they serve hot meals or services and resources are needed. They have flyers word of mouth or you may find certain services or activities on your cell phone posted through certain apps or websites. Try to keep a positive mind set and be mindful of others around you so you can also enjoy the help.
Amazing, Speechless without words, so captivating you can (in a good way) get lost in there, Very Assistful people and Caring, Loving, Nurturing Spirits and Souls, They just get you, you know, they know what you're going through. And they make it there Mission to put aside what they're doing to Assist you and get you on your way to a better life. 🤗
I gave the directions to a man re-uniting with a friend. I met the man while riding to an appointment. We were on the rail headed downtown. He happened to tell me he was headed to Cass to meet a friend. He was very nervous, as his friend did not like him to be late. I was very happy to look the directions up from my phone and give detailed instructions through Google Maps. Thank you, Google, for accurately helping me assist another in his time of need.😁
Wasn't what I expected,I arrived there around June 06, or 7th 2018 my Partner for 11yrs,and 4 months had died in Lexington, Kentucky he was very humorous , smart, funny, I know at times he wasn't prefect but who is besides God.
It was nice revisiting The Humble place where I began back in 1992 when I first arrived it's really grown and it was a pleasure serving meals to those that needed them the other day with Mr Outlaw and his daughters it was a fantastic experience to give back
If you’re ambitious to get help and motivated to change and elevate, your life is a great place to be. If you have mental health issues or homelessness issues, they provide resources there and also help with food stamps IDs in rapid rehousing.
