Halmae Noodle

Amazing noodles! It was a scorching hot day and the cold soybean noodles and radish kimchi noodles were perfect to help cool us down. We also shared a seafood pancake as appetizer and it was so delicious. Staff is very friendly and attentive. We will be back for sure!

Solid kalguksoo spot with decent flavors all around. Everything tasted good and came out piping hot, which was really satisfying. The service was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Not a standout favorite yet, but definitely a reliable place when you’re craving comforting, hot kalguksoo.

We got the dumplings half shrimp, half beef. Good size. I probably do prefer Chinese dumplings with full shrimp. The hot sesame broth with noodles had a very deep and rich flavor The spicy rice with beef have a good amount of space. Both noodle dishes had a very good amount of noodles and toppings. The noodles themselves were so fresh and bouncy. We even had leftovers the next day and they still tasted really good.

Korean food culture, steeped in tradition and community, is one of the few Asian culinary traditions that effortlessly incorporates Western influences. The fusion of typical European and American dairy as well as meat products with Korean ingredients and spices has created exciting and delicious combinations. Perhaps one of the easiest associations one can make when thinking of Korean food is kimchi, but there is so much more to Korean food and Korean cuisine than just this side dish of fermented vegetables. The Garden State is home to some of the most vibrant Korean enclaves in the country, namely in Bergen County: Fort Lee, Palisades Park, Leonia, and onward. Located on a busy Broad Avenue in Palisade Park (K-town), some of my Yelp friends decided on a light dinner at Halmae (translates to grandmother) Noodle prior to our elite event. Upon entering this cozy establishment as first-timers, we were greeted by the staff and got a table immediately. The menu features noodle soups, dumplings, and kimchi fried rice. We decided on an order of Jjin Mandu 찐만두 (steamed dumplings) of Chinese chives and beef & shrimp as well as Chicken Sokkeum Bap 치킨 볶음밥 (chicken fried rice) for sharing. Side dishes consisted of a small cabbage salad with a mango dressing, and some super fresh banchan (반찬) of kimchi and kimchi daikon started our meal. We washed them down with hot barley tea. Every dish we tried reflected the care and quality put into their food. It was a perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and savory flavors at an affordable price with a healthy portion. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive and made the entire dining experience seamless. Halmae Noodles exceeded all expectations.

I had a really pleasant experience here. The staff were very kind and welcoming, and the restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere that really gives you a sense of Korean home-style dining. The food was delicious, and they were very generous with the ingredients and portions, which made the meal even more satisfying. Considering the quality and portion size, the price felt very reasonable. This is definitely a place I can see myself coming back to regularly.

I really, really like this place! I ordered the fried beef and leek dumplings and the yukgaejang kalguksu. The yukgaejang kalguksu was a unique combination that I’ve never seen elsewhere and was so delicious! The broth was super beefy, flavorful, thick, and paired so well with the kalguksu. The service is very welcoming and warm! They were so nice! I’ll be coming back for more!

Excellent shop with homemade cut noodle that's so smooth and bit chewy. Service team was wonderful, thanks 🙏🏼. Had the clam noodle that came with tons of small clams and very tasty. Noodle portion size was also generous to large and very filling. Would revisit 😎

Excellent korean noodles! I ordered the spicy kalgusuk with beef and it was spicy and savory and delicious! The portion sizes are HUGE and the service is very attentive. Very reasonable pricing. I will definitely be coming back again.
