St. James Catholic Cathedral

Loved the calm energy the second I stepped inside. The whole experience felt so effortless, especially with how friendly and approachable the priests were when I arrived. Everything about the liturgy was smooth and easy to follow, leaving me feeling totally refreshed. The way they blended the historic vibe with that unique renovation worked so well. It is honestly such a welcoming spot to just sit and reflect in the middle of downtown.

This is my favorite church in Orlando. They offer Mass in both Spanish and English, which makes it very welcoming for everyone. Even though it’s located right in downtown, parking is surprisingly easy, with plenty of spaces available. The church itself is architecturally beautiful and very well maintained. But beyond that, it truly feels like a place of peace. If you’re looking for a refuge to reconnect with your Catholic faith, this is the place. Highly recommended. 🙏✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Welcoming, Uplifting, and Truly Special My husband and I received our Confirmation this past Sunday at Saint James Cathedral, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. We arrived a little early, and as we were walking in, about four priests were coming in at the same time. To our surprise, they immediately started talking with us—warm, casual, and genuinely kind. Every one of them shook my husband’s hand and made us feel like we truly belonged. I actually asked my husband if he knew them from somewhere because they were just that friendly. He said, “No—but they’re amazing!” They spoke both English and Spanish, were approachable, and made everyone feel seen and welcomed. We were confirmed by the Bishop, which was such a blessing. And although many Catholic churches were represented that day, we want to give a special shoutout to Father Peter from Holy Family Catholic Church, who is our parish priest. He is exceptional—his presence always brings peace and joy. Saint James Cathedral is not only beautiful but filled with warmth and community. We felt truly embraced, and we’re so grateful to have shared such a meaningful moment there.

We went to their 4 PM Mass on a Saturday evening. I can’t even begin to express the beauty and reverence I witnessed at this Mass. Father was visiting from another parish. The cantor was wonderful. It is a beautiful Cathedral and I very much look forward to coming back someday. I am so glad we ventured away from our usual Mass in Florida.

This is an old church but was renovated in the 1970s. I am usually not a fan of 70s style churches, but this one is very nice. The new stained glass windows are incredible and 3 of the original windows are in the chapel. The mass was solemn and we were made to feel welcome when we arrived early to look around. We didn't find parking on the premises but there was metered parking on the street.

Father Gonzalez officiated our wedding, and thanks to him, our day became one of the most memorable and meaningful moments of our lives. His words during the ceremony were so heartfelt that I felt an immediate connection and had to hold back tears. Father Gonzalez is profoundly kind, and every time he speaks, his sincerity and compassion resonate deeply. We are also grateful to the entire parish community for their support. Billy and Mercedes assisted us in obtaining a video copy of our wedding ceremony, while Kiko and Sandy expertly guided us through the entire process, ensuring seamless logistics and coordination. The organist and chorus performed beautifully, adding a memorable and uplifting touch to the celebration. This parish is truly remarkable. Every time we attend Mass, we are reminded of our wedding day and the joy and peace we experienced. We are deeply thankful to Father Gonzalez for making our wedding ceremony not only beautiful but also a spiritually profound experience, allowing us to celebrate our special day in the presence of God.

Very nice, old church. Actually, as far as I know, and locals confirmed, it was quite recently renovated (like 50 years ago, or so) and they did a great job. It still has some original windows. Overall impression is very good.
