Excellent museum. Clean, modern and free! External architecture reminiscent of Assyrian style but the frescos depict the Great Western Migration. While most of the museum is dedicated to modern art, there are significant collections of earlier periods, and 16th Century religious art. Being an assemblage of collections donated and loaned by wealthy local families, it is a truly eclectic assemblage. The building themselves also astonish, and reflect very different periods. Plenty of parking. Highly recommended.
On our recent weekend trip to Omaha, we wanted to expose our 11-year-old grandson to some fine art. This museum fit that plan perfectly. It was classy, well-appointed with a variety of works, not too big, and best of all FREE!
Classic European works, modern American works, and everything in between in a most impressive building... such amazing architecture! Splendid in every way!

First visit to the Joclyn in 30 years - what a change, and what a treat! Wonderful holdings, and the architecture is beautiful. Great care was taken to achieve impact & use quality materials throughout. The outdoor art is as great as the indoor, so don't skip that stroll outdoors. The original structure is still there, still beautiful, and to quote Noel Coward, "I couldn't have liked it more!"

An amazing art museum with a wonderful collection and a great atmosphere. The sketching activity was a lot of fun, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. Highly recommend!
If you visit Omaha, you need to visit the Joslyn Art Museum. There is a ticketed exhibit but the majority of the museum is free. Architecturally, the museum beautifully integrates the modern addition with the older building. There is a wide variety of European art including works by famous historic artists but I think the collection of Native American art including textiles is unique and impressive. The collection of contemporary art, predominantly American, is also extensive and possibly rivals the Whitney Museum of Art and Crystal Bridges Art museum. There is a cafe in the museum that serves food. Given its downtown location, you can also walk to a nearby restaurant before or after. We spent maybe 2.5 hours here and didn’t read all the plaques. There is an odd odor in the temporary exhibit area. Bloomberg Connect is integrated with some of the pieces here.
Loved it. Nice that it was free. Beautiful art and building. Great area for kids to practice art. Nice people. Cafe food was good. I had the soup and a grilled cheese with bacon jam.
We came here for Omaha Zoo Trip and had a day before the zoo to visit this beautiful art museum so worth it given Thursdays it’s open on till 8 pm and it’s free entry
