Oceanside Municipal Pier

Great pier to walk on and people watch, and take in sweeping views of the ocean. Lots of folks fishing. I’m a dog lover, but the sign says no dogs on the pier, yet multiple people disregarding. The end of the pier is closed off for some work that is in progress. Other than that, a great place to walk around and absorb the atmosphere.

Plenty of parking in the free multilevel parking garage by the train station. Walk on the a few blocks to the beach. Playground and equipment was in good shape and there was a share box for sand toys. No need to bring your own. Lifeguard on duty. We went in May. Not crowded, water was comfortable. Lots of families so it felt safe. Bathrooms are individual units so nothing sketchy there.

I have lived in Oceanside for more than 20 years and this place is iconic to Oceanside. I love how I feel every time I come here and I am able to walk here. It is very bumpy if you try to go on the pier in a wheelchair, but it’s doable with help. I love the energy of the people here. The only downside is that there’s barely any free parking or you have to pay for parking now.

Oceanside Municipal Pier was definitely crowded when we visited, but it was still super cool to experience. The length of the pier is impressive, and walking out over the water gives you amazing views of the beaches on both sides. Even on a chilly day, the sun was shining and there were lots of people out enjoying the scenery. I can only imagine how busy it gets during the summer months. Regardless, it was really nice to take in the ocean air, look out over the water, and enjoy those coastal views. A great spot to walk, people-watch, and soak in the ocean scenery.

One of the best piers and boardwalk areas you’ll find. Awesome spot for sunsets, beach hangs, surfing, fishing, lounging. There’s good parking everywhere, but it fills up fast. Prepare to park a couple blocks away if needed. There’s about a 2-3 mile long coastal strip here, with beaches and facilities for public use. The beaches are kept pretty clean and people take care and responsibility. The pier itself is great, it’s currently under construction on the far end. There’s a little shop midway that can provide some basics and some advice if needed. Awesome spot, worth a visit for sure, plan to spend a good 1-4 hours here, more if beaching and walking.

Love Oceanside Beach! Parking wasn’t too hard, but the lower parking lot gets full fast. More paid parking on the streets above. Amazing food options along the sidewalk. My family personally loves the hotdog stand with the $10 meal combos. There is also ice cream and smoothies toward the bottom of the pier. The board walk is wheelchair accessible, but it will be bumpy. Do be cautious of the people fishing near the end of the pier. When my family and I went to the middle of the pier there was a man with a snake who we were able to interact with for free. The water was a little chilly but once you commit it was perfect! The waves are strong, the deeper you get the smoother the waves become. The surfers stay near the bottom of the pier. The beach does get full but is open enough to claim a spot. The sand was soft but toward the sidewalk, it mixes with midsized rocks that are smooth. The showers span across the beach, water pressure is great and the water is warm. The beach is very family friendly as the water stays shallow for quite a while. The people are friendly and kind.

Seems everyone in this amazing tourist town is honestly so friendly. The buildings, the beautiful landscape everywhere, Pier 38 absolutely wonderful, some 6 lane highways San Diego zoo OMG Amazing every child there was in heaven free trolly and open bus rides for 1/2 hr tour and again very nice people everywhere

Beautiful family friendly beach. Expect to pay $4/hour for parking but the beaches are beautiful and there's plenty for kids. There's a playground and for couples there are pedal carts you can explore in. Food vendors and occasional live music.
