Oleta River Outdoor Center

Gorgeous place to kayak! We did a 4 hour tandem kayak rental and had the most amazing time exploring. Raccoon island is a must. There are places you can beach your kayak and take some beautiful pictures. The water is clear and the baby fish were everywhere. We went on a Wednesday to avoid the crowds. Since Im a local about 45 mins away, I will definitely be going again this summer.

Our recent visit was so amazing. We made it about two hours prior to closing the rentals, but we were quickly assisted, instructed, and provided our equipment. It began to rain while we were out on the water, but it was the best experience ever. Prices are quite reasonable, and the staff are helpful with suggestions for which equipment is best for your party size. Can’t wait to go back. Check out raccoon island, but be careful of fleas.

I had the most amazing time! From getting to the park and getting rentals everything was so very easy. I loved paddle boarding to Sandspur island and going to the gorgeous beach in the park. The trip began paddle boarding through the mangroves which is one of my favorite things to do. It was very relaxing and refreshing.

The place is incredible, and the customer service is excellent; the staff assisting with the kayaks are very friendly. The only downside to the venue itself is that they lack adequate restroom facilities. Given the number of people who visit, a proper restroom is absolutely necessary.

Oleta River Park never disappoints! The employees at the Outdoor Center were helpful and amicable. They gave us great information and service. It was easy to park nearby and walk over to the center. Make sure you go upstairs first and straight to the kiosks to fill out and sign your waivers before making the line at the register to pay for your rental. The weather was amazing and we were able to go to raccoon island and explore and then to the small beach area. We had a tandem kayak for 2 hours and although we made it back on time, we wished we could've stayed longer. Highly recommend for beginners looking for some safe adventure.

This place was great. We rented two tandem kayaks to explore the mangroves and Sandspur Island, and it was awesome. Staff were all helpful and friendly. The equipment was in good shape, and they took good care of us. It was peaceful to paddle through the mangroves and then super cool to see the raccoons on Sandspur. We also hiked around a bit and that was fun too. We could definitely spend another day or two at the beach or just exploring other areas.

Why a lovely find this was. It was easy to find and to access (Miami Beach traffic notwithstanding!), beautiful, well organized and the people working at the rental center were very professional and friendly. For our first time, we rented a two-person kayak for an hour and we had a marvelous time. We explored only a part of the large area available and it was beautiful. We saw a selection of wildlife, including what I think was a Blue Heron (see the pictures). Thank you Oleta River Outdoor Center!

Oleta River State Park is an absolute gem for anyone who loves the outdoors! I went kayaking and had an amazing time navigating the calm waters surrounded by lush mangroves and beautiful wildlife. The launch area is convenient, the waterways are well-maintained, and the natural scenery is stunning. Whether you’re looking for kayaking, paddleboarding, or hiking, Oleta Park offers a peaceful escape right in Miami. Highly recommend it for a fun, active, and scenic outdoor adventure!
