Over the years, I’ve made it a point to visit every time I’m in the area, and it has never disappointed. It’s truly a hidden gem in NYC’s NoMad neighborhood. No matter how busy it gets, the service is consistently warm, attentive, and exceptional. The food is always outstanding and well worth the wait. Experiences like this are why I keep coming back year after year. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to excellence. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

I have mixed feelings about The Smith, but three stars feels fair — maybe even a touch generous. We booked a table for eight for a family brunch to celebrate my wife’s 40th, so expectations were (understandably) high. Let’s start with what they absolutely get right. The ambiance is fantastic — very 1920s, F. Scott Fitzgerald energy — and it works. The interior design team clearly put serious thought into creating something transportive and polished. It feels intentional, not accidental. The cocktails? Genuinely phenomenal. The Oaxacan Sunshine was a standout — bright, balanced, and memorable. My wife’s Frozen Pool Party tasted like something straight out of a Death & Co. mixology finals round. Creative, refined, and just plain fun. The food was also impressive. The menu strikes a nice balance between healthier options and indulgent brunch staples, and everything we ordered delivered both in flavor and presentation. Which is why it’s frustrating to say the service didn’t live up to the rest of the experience. We were seated at a table set with visibly dirty dishes — traces of butter still on the plates. I quietly mentioned it to the server. He inspected them, said nothing, removed them… and never brought replacements or acknowledged the miss. No quick apology, no “we’ll fix that right away,” nothing. It made me wonder how dishes leave the kitchen that way, washed by one person, set by another, without anyone noticing. It felt either like a simple mistake or a breakdown in attention to detail. And on a milestone birthday brunch, that lack of care stands out. The Smith has the atmosphere, the drinks, and the food to be exceptional. I just wish the service matched the level of everything else.

Stopped here for lunch last weekend and it was busy, but the service was top-notch thanks to Yesenia. She took great care of us. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal—especially the Miso salmon, the generously portioned 'little' gem caesar salad, and the ranchero scramble with bacon and chicken sausage. Everything was delicious and served perfectly. Highly recommended for a casual, high-quality lunch in NYC

Stopped in here for a few appetizers and drinks after a travel day. Seated quickly -- waitress was kind and attentive. Food and drinks came out quickly and everything was great. We had the mussels and fries and they were great! Would definitely come back. Good sized wine menu too!

We first came in for brunch and the food was fine. The goat cheese omelet was solid, but I liked the greens and vinaigrette on the side more than the omelet. The breakfast sandwich was really good, and the potatoes that came with it were the best part of the brunch. The potato waffle was bland, but they have salt and pepper on the table. Flash to a couple nights later after a terrible experience at a late-1800's "themed" bar down the street, and The Smith saved our evening. They were able to sit us quickly after we left the prior establishment (given we didn't have a reservation), and their bar was large enough that sitting there while waiting was easy. Dinner: Truffle Arancini Appetizer - solid choice, but I'd have liked more of the white sauce. Half Chicken - the sauce was punchy and was perfect for the chicken and the veggies were cooked perfectly. It wasn't a true half-chicken, but I honestly think it was better because of that. Instead, it was a large breast and a leg; I think this choice kept it from being dried out the way half chickens can be. French Dip - the au jus was thick and savory, and the bread was amazing. Everything on the sandwich melded together in a great way. Sticky Toffe Pudding - I've never had such a perfect dessert from a restaurant. It was amazing in every way. On top of it all, service was great; our waitress, Chloe, was a doll. This was a great experience for us.

Really loved the food here. This was the first time I had baked eggs à la vodka and it was delicioussss. The only thing is I felt it was a little small for the price point. So now I make it myself at home and it’s wonderful. The buttermilk pancakes were also absolutely delectable. Some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had.

I love the smith. It’s definitely a staple of mine. I’ve been going for almost a decade now. The sandwiches and salads are my favorite. The latte is also wonderful. It gets a bit noisy sometimes but it’s great for both groups and dining alone.

What a treat to get to one of the NYC icons of dining with family and friends from out of town. A nice breakfast. Hot coffee! Cornbread provided as an extra! Delicious! Reasonable pricing (but it is NYC!). Go for it!
