Visited on a weekday evening, and it was a wonderful experience. The Drama Book Shop has an incredible selection of plays, musicals, screenplays, and books on acting, directing, and theater history. Whether you're a theater professional, student, or just a fan, there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is just as memorable as the collection. The space is filled with vintage theater posters, creative book sculptures, and a warm, welcoming vibe. There's also a cozy café inside serving coffee, tea, and light snacks, with plenty of seating if you want to relax and browse your new finds. The availability of restrooms is another nice convenience. It's a unique bookstore that's well worth a visit for any theater lover.

The Drama Book Shop is easily one of my favorite bookstores in NYC. Perfectly located near Midtown/Times Square, it’s an easy stop if you’re already exploring the area or catching a Broadway show. It fits naturally into any itinerary around here. I’m big on bookstores and libraries, and this one absolutely delivers. It has that cozy, creative energy that makes you want to slow down, browse, and stay longer than planned. Pro tip: pair this with a Broadway show or a coffee nearby, it makes for a perfect Midtown break. Love it.

Was only in New York for a couple of days celebrating my forthcoming 70th Birthday. Main reason was to see Hamilton the Musical on Broadway and visit the Book Shop to purchase the book Hamilton actually signed by Lin Manuel Miranda. I came all the way from Glasgow with my daughter for this but never got a signed one! However we spent over an hour in the shop chatting to Michael who was just so helpful in showing us everything Hamilton. A lovely man. Was very relaxing also having a cuppa and chatting to other customers with same interests. I did buy the book and enjoyed talking to other staff in the shop. Maybe next time I'm in NY, Lin Manuel will be doing a shift in his shop and I'll get his signature?!🤔😂

Such a cute little shop! I loved the layout and look of the place, my daughter really enjoyed how cozy it felt while having a great selection. This is the place to go if you are looking for plays, unique books about theater, and everything in that world.

Could shop for hours - owned by Lin Manuel Miranda, very cool decor (felt harry potter-esq) full scripts of plays and musicals available, incredible selection of autobiographies, and scores from musicals. There is also sheet music decorated with art, a cafe, many signed copies of books, and comfy places to sit and chat. I would be shocked if anyone could leave without buying something. This is the PERFECT shop to purchase gifts for any play/musical lover on your list!

Book selection is not really great. This place is really worth visiting for the aesthetic and taking pictures. The cafe is pretty cute but they also don’t offer many options or seasonal drinks. One and down type of place

Such a beautiful book and coffee shop. The vibes were immaculate, divine and so cozy!! The staff were so all so kind. The coffee was so yummy. I went with my boyfriend and we got the chai latte and the s’mores latte. Highly recommend!

A theatre lovers MUST see. Tourists do not skip this and locals have access to so many free events hosted! Excellent selection of scripts and specialty merch. Coffee shop inside as well as little areas tucked throughout to sit and sip and read. Staff knowledge and joy for theatre is second to none.
