Just returned from the most magical trip ever to India through Micato. Many may not realize that Micato offers outstanding itineraries in India. Our trip with our guide/host Puneet Dan couldn’t have been more perfect. Every detail was spot-on from planning with our Micato US coordinator Marion Miller to the entire Micato team in India who work behind the scenes, absolute top in class! The communication amongst the team was highly unprecedented and so well executed. The sights, restaurants, transportation, hotels & experiences were incredible. We really appreciated the camaraderie of our group meeting over half of them for the first time.

My husband and I just returned from the Micato Safaris African splendor trip and there aren’t words or pictures to describe how amazing this trip was. We saw so many animals in their natural habitat up close; our lodging was all five star as was the food and service. The local guides they have are amazing. Ours was a gentleman named Peter Wambugu and his knowledge of the animals, birds and topography were like an encyclopedia. Every detail was taken care of by Micato and while this was our first time traveling with them, it is certainly not the last. I highly recommend Micato Safari’s.
My experience with Micato Safaris was nothing short of exceptional—truly one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, every single detail was handled seamlessly. I truly loved the fact that I did not have to think about anything. Micato has an incredible ability to anticipate your needs before you even realize them, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy the experience. What made the trip especially memorable were the people. Our Concierge, Mercy, was wonderful—attentive, thoughtful, and always making sure everything was perfect. Our guide, Peter, was equally fantastic. His knowledge, instincts, and passion transformed every game drive into something unforgettable. Micato also creates moments you’ll never forget. They surprised me at one of the lodges with a beautiful 60th birthday dinner, which was completely unexpected and incredibly special. Equally impactful was the opportunity to see the work of Micato-AmericaShare firsthand. Experiencing the difference they are making in the community added a depth and meaning to the trip that goes far beyond a traditional safari. I can’t recommend Micato highly enough. They don’t just plan trips—they create extraordinary experiences you’ll carry with you long after you return home.
Our two-week safari with Micato Safaris through Kenya and Tanzania was truly the trip of a lifetime — especially because it was just my son and me sharing the adventure together. What truly made this safari extraordinary was the Micato people. From the very beginning, Micato set the tone for excellence. Kadie in the New York office was exceptional in helping us select the right itinerary and preparing us with thoughtful, detailed guidance before departure. Every element of the trip unfolded perfectly according to plan, allowing us to simply relax and immerse ourselves in the experience. Our Safari Director, Tito, was with us every step of the way for the entire two weeks, and I can say without hesitation that he was the heart of our journey. His knowledge of the wildlife, ecosystems, and local culture was remarkable — but even more meaningful was his warmth and genuine care... especially with my son. Spending that much time together on game drives, at meals, and traveling between destinations, Tito became like family to us. His passion and attentiveness elevated every single day. Our drivers, Adam and Julius, were equally outstanding. They navigated challenging terrain with confidence and ease, somehow spotting animals in the far distance that we would have completely missed. Thanks to them, we witnessed countless zebras, giraffes, elephants, impalas, wildebeests, and so much more. Every drive felt like an exciting discovery. We were also so appreciative of Jackie, our local concierge in Kenya, who ensured everything ran smoothly at both the beginning and end of our journey. Her support added another layer of care and professionalism that defined the entire Micato experience. The lodges and camps throughout both countries were nothing short of spectacular — each one perfectly chosen, incredibly high-end, and uniquely beautiful. Micato clearly knows how to pair extraordinary wildlife experiences with luxurious comfort. The true highlight of the trip, however, was a special morning at Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Micato arranged a private viewing of the world’s last two northern white rhinos — something my son had dreamed about and will never forget. Watching his face during that once-in-a-lifetime moment was priceless. It was, without question, his favorite part of the entire safari — and one we will both carry with us forever. This trip wasn’t just about seeing incredible wildlife. It was about connection — to nature, to each other, and to the extraordinary people who made it all possible. Micato doesn’t just plan safaris; they create deeply personal, flawlessly executed experiences. My son and I are beyond grateful to the entire Micato team — and already thinking about our next adventure.
We have been on many great luxury vacations and ecotours over the years and this trip to South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe ranks at the top. Micato has all of the bases covered to assure that your trip runs smoothly and its great staff direct your safari with friendly, efficient competence. From the initial meeting at the airport to the final send-off, you feel like your experience is the most important thing to them. The Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg and the Victoria Falls Hotel were two of my all-time favorites. The rustic luxury of the camps was great with wonderful food. The staff and the Pinto family managed to supply unexpected touches and surprises at each transition point which everyone truly appreciated. The true essence of the trip though was experiencing the African people who were warm and welcoming and the African savanna with its incredible biodiversity. The pictures shown here are pretty randomly selected and I am still in the process of editing another several thousand of which many will exceed these. There was a picture everywhere you looked. While the trip was quite pricy, I left feeling like it was a bargain. I’m old school and don’t give out stars lightly. It was also nice to know that a portion of each person’s cost was used to pay for a year of school for a local child. My only regret was that it took me almost 80 years to discover Africa and Micato.
I traveled with Micato Safaris in Kenya this December, and the experience truly blew me away. I call it Micato Magic—because every single detail is handled so seamlessly that all you have to do is wake up and be ready for greatness. From the moment we landed, Micato was there waiting for us right on the tarmac with a private transfer, fast-tracking us through immigration when we were exhausted from travel. That level of care set the tone for the entire trip. One of the highlights was our Micato Safari Director (ours was Peter—who seems to be friends with everyone in Kenya 😊). Having a Safari Director throughout the journey provided consistency across camps. He perfectly supplemented the camp guides, added depth to our experience, and was an absolute delight to travel with. I also had dietary restrictions, and every single meal was handled flawlessly—thoughtful, delicious, and stress-free. The staff and guides at each camp were warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. I learned so much on this trip and felt genuinely cared for everywhere we went. Micato’s concierge service is next level—whether it’s big requests or small ones (like running out to get socks we forgot to pack!). Including laundry made packing light effortless, and having all gratuities included removed any stress so we could just fully enjoy the safari. And then there’s the wildlife—wow. Every day felt special, and every day brought something new. We were consistently placed in the perfect position for game viewing, and they even went out of their way to find beautiful birds for me.
Micato India is less a journey and more a vivid immersion into a world that engages every sense. From the moment you arrive, it’s the people who leave the deepest impression—warm, intuitive, and effortlessly gracious. The whole Micato team, but especially our guide Hem Singh, doesn’t just guide you through India; they open doors to its soul. Whether it’s a quiet conversation over chai or an impromptu celebration in a village, there’s a sincerity in every interaction that feels both rare and unforgettable. India itself unfolds like a living canvas of color. Saris in impossible shades of saffron, emerald, and fuchsia ripple through bustling markets. Marigold garlands drape temples and doorways, glowing against weathered stone. Even the landscapes seem saturated—lush jungles, dusty pink cities, and golden desert light that lingers just a moment longer than expected. Every turn feels cinematic, yet entirely real. Of course, no Micato journey would be complete without the wildlife. Seeing a tiger emerge silently from the brush or watching elephants move with quiet power across the landscape is nothing short of awe-inspiring. But what sets Micato apart is how these encounters are framed—with respect, patience, and a deep understanding of the delicate balance between human and animal worlds. They say “third time’s a charm,” but in our case, each of the three Micato safaris we’ve experienced has been nothing short of spectacular. There’s a consistency to the excellence, yet each journey feels entirely unique—new places, new faces, new moments that take your breath away. Micato has an uncanny ability to make the extraordinary feel effortless, and the familiar feel new again. India with Micato isn’t just a trip—it’s a collection of moments that stay vivid long after the journey ends.
I recently traveled to Kenya with Micato and had the trip of a lifetime! After my experience, I have a hard time imagining traveling to Africa any other way. The trip was amazing, everything ran smoothly and we were so spoiled with the accommodations, hospitality, food, and wildlife. The real icing on the cake was our safari director, George. By the end of the trip he felt like family. I had such a great time learning from him.
