Agata & Valentina! When I first walked in, it seemed like a regular deli, but wow, there was so much more to discover! The atmosphere was very inviting, and it felt lively with many people there. I saw a lot of fresh stuff, from fruits and vegetables to fresh fish, but what I loved the most was the cheese! They had aged cheese, and even though I don't know much about it, the sample they gave me was amazing!" That Primadonna cheese 🧀 😋

I eat from Agatha & Valentina almost every day, and I’m never disappointed. Agatha & Valentina on 79th Street has become my go‑to spot for everyday meals. The selection is on another level meat, poultry, fish, greens, desserts, coffee -- whether you’re picking up raw ingredients or grabbing something fully prepared. It’s a noticeable step up from Whole Foods in both quality and variety. The staff is warm, the service is consistent, and the ambiance always lands: French classics, Italian staples, a little Godfather, a little Édith Piaf. Across the street, they even run a full gluten‑free store with vegan and dairy‑free options, which makes it easy for anyone with dietary needs. If you’re in the Upper East Side, this location is absolutely worth a stop.

I love this local grocery store. Price reflects quality. It isnso popular for the pre-made foods, there is plenty of staff around and everything is fresh and excellent. They don't allow photos but I did get a couple during checkout. As a neighborhood I frequently go here for last minute needs especially when it comes to produce and herbs! Aside from that I love their fresh pasta and their beautiful tarts. While the line can seem long it moves quickly!

I love this store. I travel from The Upper West Side for the hospitality and quality of their excellent products. The clerks have always greated me with a smile. The Sliced Turkey is so good. The Sliced Baked Ham is a treat. The Chicken Chili is insane. Their side items are very good, I recommend the Potatoes Gratin, Broccoli Rabe and Sicilian Carrots. Their Bolognase Sauce is excellent. If they have Heritage Pork available I highly recommend it. They mostly prepare it off the bone but when they have in bone, it's just as good. Their prepared salads are super, I recommend the Potato Salad, Tuna Salad and any of the Pasta Salads. They have containers of shredded chicken and turkey which are excellent for soups, salads and toppings. Their Cheese Station is excellent. Their butcher station is packed with quality meats. They have excellent imported pastas. I like their fish station but wish they wouldn't use Talapia and use Wild Salmon in the fish cakes instead. I get olives and bagel spreads there which are very good. They are always making fresh pastas in front of you. The Pastries Station should be moved 3 blocks away. Everything is so tasty and pretty but let's not kid ourselves, they're fattening. I love their Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Coffeecake and Blond Brownies. I like that they added self checkout. If I had to knock anything it would be their fresh breads because they're mushy and their ricotta filled products because they have little flavor.

as a celiac i appreciate their keeping gluten free and regular kitchens completely separate, and will say the gluten free side from what ive seen has plenty of hot/cold/pastry options which would be great if they weren’t all stale. as someone whose been gluten free for years i expect most treats to be a lackluster texture, but as someone whose worked in the kitchen for years i can also recognize the pastries are simply unfresh. I’ve been multiple times to confirm, (always in the early morning hours when display cases should be freshest) but after giving them the benefit of the doubt a few too many times, my most recent visit has disappointed me to the point i don’t think i will return… and prices are exorbitant given the context.

I had a really disappointing experience. I bought garlic bread here, and when I got home, it was completely covered in mold inside. I brought it back the next day to show them, and instead of handling it professionally, the manager was rude and raised her voice at me. Definitely not the way to treat a customer, especially over a valid concern about food quality. She tried to give me store credit instead of refunding me the $4. When I called her out on it, she back pedaled. Still never said sorry. No customer service and I shop here all the time. Save your hard earned money for more respectable places. Not to mention the bread was on the shelf and was not reading as expired at all. Lord knows how many other people they can make sick.

Love this store. Prices are high, but so is the quality of food here. I’ve tried some of their prepared foods, along with some soups, and puddings (chocolate pudding and rice pudding). All the food I’ve tried did not disappoint. It’s easy to spend a small fortune in here, but be assured you’ll be getting quality and tasty food in the process. There is a GF store across the street. I have not gone in there, although I do love the fact that they offer a store full of GF products for those that have that dietary restriction.
