After driving past Storm King Art Center countless times on the Thruway, I finally visited, and it did not disappoint. Spanning 500 acres, this outdoor museum features manageable trails alongside a few hills. Our group of eight friends, who meet regularly for outdoor activities or dinner, had a wonderful time. Some of us walked four miles, while others covered a couple of miles before taking the tram ride. Boasting the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the country, it is an incredible place to explore regardless of your affinity for art. Admission fees are $25 for Adults, $22 for Seniors (65+), and $15 for Youth (5 to 17). We stopped for lunch at the outdoor cafe, which worked out perfectly as a heavy rainstorm passed over while we ate, keeping us completely dry while we enjoyed the good food. While exploring the grounds, we plugged our vehicle into one of the roughly twelve "Switch" EV chargers. Each station had a small sign stating "Priority for Employees during business hours," though it was unclear if visitors were permitted. Since no other cars were charging, we decided to plug in. The pricing is very expensive at $0.55/kWh for a slow 9.6kW charger, which is high even for a Level 3 station when most Level 2 chargers cost around $0.20/kWh. Furthermore, a loitering fee of $5.00 per hour is applied after 3 hours, even if active charging is still ongoing, meaning we were charged both fees simultaneously. While better signage would certainly help, I view the extra cost as a nice donation to Storm King if it helps support the center.

Storm King Art Center is one of the most unique places in New York State. It’s hard to decide what impresses more—the monumental sculptures or the beautiful rolling landscape surrounding them. This is not a typical museum where you walk from room to room. Here, art and nature blend together perfectly, and every turn reveals a new perspective or a surprising installation. The grounds are huge, impeccably maintained, and perfect for spending an entire day outdoors. A wonderful place to slow down, walk, take photos, and simply enjoy the combination of art and nature. Highly recommended and absolutely worth the trip.

We happen to visit for our first time on a picture perfect spring day. Walking the grounds was lovely. We brought a lunch and enjoyed on a shaded picnic table, but can also bring a blanket and stop anywhere during your visit. We walked, but there are trolley cars that can take you around the vast acres or rent bikes. Clean facilities and water refill stations.

If you like walking the outdoors and steel art sculptures this is the place. The picture you see on line does not show the enormous size of these art work. Bring good walking walking shoes. Be prepared to spend at least 4 to 5 hours there. There's a tram that come around if you get tired 😫. There's a Cafe for food. You can also bring your own food plenty of picnic area through out the 500 acres. You can rent bicycles to get around. A bit expensive but, you can go on the first Friday of each month for free. Word of advice know you weather report before going. Well worth the trip. Enjoy.

Great place to walk around and see amazing, gigantic sculptures! You can touch and sit on some pieces...read the plaques embedded in the ground for information! Had a great time, relaxing and enjoying the scenery!

A magnificent outdoor sculpture garden located on 500 acres near West Point. Definitely take the tram that covers most of the grounds with a commentary on the sculptures. Exceptionally large metal sculptures.

I was in awe of both the natural beauty of the grounds and the fabulous art installations at The Storm King Art Center. I could have spent all day here and been as happy as can be. Can't wait to return.
