Cheekwood Estate & Gardens was where I first experienced Dale Chihuly’s glass art, and it completely changed how I see his work. This visit was years ago, and it sparked a long-lasting appreciation... I’ve since visited multiple Chihuly exhibitions and even own a couple of his books as well art. The way the glass is installed throughout the gardens is stunning. The colors, shapes, and movement feel intentionally placed, as if the art and the landscape were designed together. The pieces enhance the beauty of the grounds, and the grounds elevate the art right back. If you’re in Nashville and enjoy outdoor art, gardens, or immersive exhibitions, Cheekwood’s Chihuly installation is unforgettable. It’s peaceful, inspiring, and one of those experiences that stays with you long after you leave.

Cheekwood is one of my favorite places to photograph such a special moment like a proposal! The gardens are beautifully maintained year-round, with countless picturesque spots that make every proposal feel unique. The staff has always been kind and welcoming, and the estate provides an elegant, timeless backdrop that couples absolutely love. I always look forward to photographing here and highly recommend visiting for any special occasion, or just for fun!
You MUST visit this place. I was skeptical at the beginning since I didn't see so many pictures of this place and I didn't know how big this place was and how was looking on real time. I'm glad I came, this place it's like wonderland, so pretty and peaceful. If you can, you can spend hours here just contemplating the nature. They also have a mansion, it's a different price just the gardens or both, I paid for both but I didn't really enjoyed the mansion but that's on me, I rather spend time on the nature than museums so, it's ups to you, if you like story, then pay for both, if not and you don't have much time, only pay for the garden. So worth to flight to Nashville and visit this place! Loved it.
There are many different gardens to explore - you'll be inspired by all the different views and areas they've created. It's nice for adults because of the history and the gardens, but they've encorporated a lot of children's elements throughout as well, so the whole family can enjoy. We visited Cheekwood in the first week of April. Beautiful time to see flowering trees like dogwood and viburnum. The bulbed spring flowers were pretty spent by this point and were being removed in some areas. Favorite spots would be the reflecting pool, turtle pond, Japanese garden, and the seasonal garden, but there is something interesting and beautiful everywhere you look. I recommend good walking shoes and refillable water bottles! We spent about 4-5 hours and 100 bucks for a family of 4.
Cheekwood is a unique place. Quiet and beautiful. It has gardens, sculptures, buildings, and a mansion. Not quite a botanical garden, but it has events. It allows dogs, which is a good and bad thing to me. I am a member of the AHS so we got free admission. It has nice trails, water features, pretty vistas, and a cool train display. No real indoor gardens. My main gripe is the parking. It used to be free. I understanding needing to charge but goodness I wasn't expecting to park in a rough gravel lot at a 20 degree angle.. wish I had brough my SUV or maybe made the trek from Percy Warner to avoid the fee. Maybe charge for the actual lot and then parking in the poorly graded gravel, rocky area should be free... my last two photos show this :)
The grounds were awesome and our kids loved the train exhibits as well as the art installations along the trail through the woods. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only negative was the construction equipment sounds which overpowered the peace and tranquility of the nature hike.
Went there for the holiday mansion and lights. It was pretty and not too crowded. A little on the expensive side and not as elaborate in terms of lights in the gardens as I expected. Very friendly staff knowledgeable about the history of the home and gardens. Will return during daylight hours to see the grounds and visit the japanese garden.
Visited today towards the tail end of the Cheekwood in Bloom festival. Very cool garden, definitely a lot of walking. I guess I missed the tulips which was disappointing, the color garden was just dirt beds with no plants. I thought the train area and the children’s book display were very charming, and they had some very cool sculptures around.
