Morris Museum

I didn’t expect this museum to be as amazing as it was! Makes sense why it is affiliated with Smithsonian. There are so many things to see here. Loved the current exhibits with the music boxes, 1800s to early 1900s automata toys, and on books. I even randomly entered into a presentation of an artist whose gallery is up too. The paintings are amazing! I also really loved the whole train model set up that takes up a whole room. I recommend giving yourself 3 hours to see and read about it all.

Really great exhibits. The music boxes and automation displays were so amazing. And the Matisse exhibit was informative and beautiful in its simplicity. There was more to see but we had limited time. Go visit this wonderful local museum.

I visited the Museum recently with my grandson. The Museum is a treat for those of us who enjoy visual arts: an eclectic and varied collection, as well as superbly curated temporary exhibits. My 6 year old companion enjoyed the features for children, including an interactive train city and timed entry to a room for inventing devices. I decided to become a member. We need to support culture in our community. We will return soon to experience the large section with demonstrations of automatons and self playing musical instruments.

We recently attended a Nimbus Dance show in the Bickford Theater. It's a nice theater space. The exhibits in the galleries represent both new and old artists. A good family museum!

Excellent exhibits with unusual music mechanical machines and automata! Loved the literary exhibit too! So clever and unusual!

The Morris Museum is a hidden gem in the heart of New Jersey. You get amazing value for your money and they have a cool selection of things to look at. All the staff are really friendly and very excited about the exhibits. I would highly recommend this place especially for kids because they have a lot of interactive exhibits and opportunities for learning. But even for adults it’s really fascinating and I think everyone would have a good time here!

I visited only one section of the museum - Murtogh Guinness collection of mechanical musical instruments and automata. This is an interesting topic, to my knowledge not well represented anywhere else, so the museum is quite unique. The labelling is quite good, but I also highly recommend a tour which is included in the museum admission. It also allows you to here some music boxes and see automatons in action.

Museum was very lame and it was not free. It smelled kind of funky because it seemed like there wasn’t any air circulation and everything was just sitting there. They have an immersive room of visuals of nature and it was mediocre and sad. I’ve been living down the road for all my life when I was a kid the events were fun but older me attempting to appreciate some art in my free time, it was completely boring. I would not recommend this place for anyone. I was also under the influence of a psychoactive drug and they looked at me like I was on crack cocaine. That was not fun
