General Store of Minnetonka

Absolutely incredible place!! I had been past it a lot, but I finally stopped in and I'm so happy that I did. The staff are very friendly, and there is so much to see here. We also stopped in the café and got some goodies that were all delicious. The way everything is layed out in the store is very unique with lots of cool antique items throughout the store as decorations.

4 stars for uniqueness. We liked the nostalgia of looking at the games I grew up with in the 50-60s through the 80s before technology overcame sensibility. You could easily browse for over an hour and find so much “you didn’t know you need” (AI description). (I didn’t say that I hate technology.) One could definitely find a gift for anyone. However, too expensive for our budget. Old-time Jack in the Box was $30, but I found a small Spinning Top for my great grandson for $10. Old-time games are great for dexterity. Good smelling wax section, linens, candy, clothes, restaurant, etc. Look it up.

We were in the area and my daughter has always wanted to stop. I’m so glad we did! What an experience. It’s a beautiful place to visit. From the moment you step in the door you’re greeted and given some info of the store’s layout. The staff is so helpful and kind. I’m a baker and have been looking for my mom’s old cookbook for years.. teared up a little as I found the cookbook from the 1950’s on the shelf republished. Everything you need under one roof. Besides all the amazing decor.. the clothing is top notch. Cute jewelry and even education toys for the little ones.. don’t worry they have the big kids covered too! The food looks amazing and look forward to visiting again to try out the cafe. Even as we were leaving we were admiring the beautiful garden and met Gail. She shared some history of the beautiful flowers and just made the trip so worth it. Never had a store make me feel so welcome! Thank you!! 😊

I was greeted walking in the door. This is an inviting store with a big variety of unique items. The General Store is two levels of fun. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There were no lines when checking out even though it was super busy. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. I loved the shopping baskets to hold my items while I shopped around.

Very cool place to check out.

My favorite gift shop in Minnesota. I've been bringing everyone here since I've first found it. Definitely worth the road trip! Then head over to Bachman's afterwards.
