Zoo Miami

We're from Kansas City and we have a decent zoo so we were excited to check out this one. We were pleasantly surprised! The exhibits were clean and well executed. The animals were easy to see and there's a wonderful variety! We rented the pedal Safari Cart and while it was fun, it was quite difficult to pedal (3 adults, a 5 year old, and an 8 month old). It was nice to have a place to put our bags and drinks on the cart though! Food was easily accessible and was a reasonable cost. I definitely appreciate that you can refill your souvenir cup with ice water for free and the staff is very helpful. We would love to visit again!

We had a great time at the zoo overall. The park is huge, so I definitely recommend renting one of the bicycle carts if you plan to explore the whole area. It made getting around much easier, although the $60 rental price was pretty expensive. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, but I did notice that we usually had to start the conversation. We were only approached once during our visit, and that was by someone at the food service counter. It would have been nice to see more staff around to answer questions or share information about the animals. A lot of the animals looked tired, and many were sleeping, so we did not get to see as much activity as we hoped. We also did not get to see any open exhibits during our visit. There were plenty of signs with information, but not many people available to talk to about the animals. I did take advantage of the $15 Monday admission, which was a great deal and definitely helped save money. However, the bicycle rental and food were both pretty pricey. Overall, it was a decent experience, and I would still recommend going, especially on a discounted day.

I used to come here when I was a kid back when it was still called Metro Zoo, so coming back now was a little nostalgic lol. We saw so many animals and had a really fun time walking around Zoo. One thing I did notice is that there are quite a few areas that seem to have permanently closed. I can’t wait to see what they plan to do with those spaces in the future and how they might improve those areas. Overall it was a really fun visit and it brought back a lot of memories. Definitely a great place to spend the day.

This is a WORLD CLASS ZOO! My wife and I visited here for the first time on Monday, February 9 2026, and arrived at the front gate right as the ticket booth opened at 10:00 am. The parking lot is YUGE (almost Disney World sized) because it gets very crowded here on weekends and holidays. Fortunately, it was almost a ghost town on the Monday morning and early afternoon of our visit, which lasted about 4.5 hours. At the walk-up ticket booth, I asked for a military discount (12.98 ticket price) and my wife got a senior discount (19.46). Because of its location, nearly all of the animals here are from tropical or sub-tropical climates (Africa, South and Central America, SE Asia, India, and the Caribbean), likely because it gets very hot and humid here at the park during the summer months, and trying to keep large animals who aren't biologically evolved to keep cool or tolerate the heat would be nearly impossible. The layout of the park makes it very easy to navigate, and it's one of the most ADA friendly zoos we've ever visited. The complete circuit of pathways, which are all paved and very wide is probably about 3-4 miles in length if you walk all of them (as we did), and we saw several of the families with small children or elders using one of the four wheel pedal bikes that are available for rent just as you enter the park. As far as the animals, they are all very well cared for, and the amount of space they have in their wide open "enclosures" that are surrounded by deep moats is probably better than any other zoo's in the world (and we've been to many of them). If you plan to visit here, I would definitely recommend going in the winter months (December through early March) because I'm sure it gets very hot and humid during the late Spring to Fall months (April to October). We were lucky to have very low humidity, beautiful sunny skies, and temps in the high 60s the day we visited. It was a wonderful experience for us, and we will probably go back the next time we visit the Miami-Dade area. As far as ticket purchases go, that might be a good idea if you visit on a weekend or holiday. We did drive by here again the following Saturday when we visited the co-located Gold Coast Railroad Museum, and the Zoo parking lot was about 60% full. That said, I'm sure the ticket booth at the entrance gate also had long lines for those who did not buy their tickets on line in advance or via the ZOOMiami App. We downloaded the ZooMiami App because they don't give out paper maps, and it was a very good tool to keep track of exactly where you are in the park so you don't get lost. I would also recommend bringing a phone charger or a batter backup charger because we took so many pictures and used the App to navigate with that we both ran out of juice on our phones just before we got near the finish line.

🦉🦁🐍🦧🐘 Visited Zoo Miami and honestly, it exceeded expectations. This place is HUGE, so be ready to walk—or rent a bike like I did, which was totally worth it. They offer different rental options right at the entrance (bikes, strollers, even scooters), and it really helps you cover more ground without getting exhausted. The layout is very open and natural, not like a typical zoo where animals feel confined. You can tell they put effort into creating realistic habitats. I saw everything from flamingos and camels to elephants and giraffes, and one of the highlights was being able to feed a giraffe up close—such a cool experience. There are also rotating habitats, so you might see different animals depending on the time you visit, which keeps things interesting. The grounds are clean, well-maintained, and full of shaded areas, which is a big plus in the Miami heat. There are also nice spots to sit, relax, and take photos—especially near the entrance sign and themed areas that give the zoo a unique vibe. Staff members were friendly and helpful, especially during the animal encounters. Everything felt organized and safe. Overall, it’s a great place for families, couples, or even going solo if you enjoy wildlife and outdoor exploring. Pro tip: Get there early when they open (around 10 AM) so you have enough time to explore everything without rushing—and definitely consider renting a bike. Highly recommend if you’re in the Miami area 👍

Our family trip to the Miami Zoo was an incredible experience that exceeded our expectations. Their gentle nature and long necks made for perfect photo opportunities! The zoo also offers numerous cafeterias, ensuring that there are plenty of dining options to refuel during our adventure. Additionally, we loved the various playgrounds scattered throughout the zoo, providing a great way for the kids to expend some energy between animal exhibits. The inclusion of water parks was a fantastic surprise, allowing the children to cool off and have fun in the water on a warm day. Overall, the Miami Zoo is a perfect family destination, combining education, entertainment, and adventure. We left with smiles on our faces and memories that will last a lifetime. We can't wait to return and explore more of what this wonderful zoo has to offer!

Visited Zoo Miami last week with my girlfriend and a group of friends, and it was honestly one of the best days we've had in a while. Came back with a ton of photos and videos because everywhere you turned, there was something worth capturing. The animals were the highlight — so many species up close, well cared for, and in spacious, natural-looking habitats. You can tell a lot of thought goes into how the animals are housed and presented. Some of the encounters felt surprisingly intimate for a zoo this size. The facilities and layout were also impressive. The grounds are well-maintained, easy to navigate, and there's enough variety to keep the whole group engaged for hours. It never felt rushed or overwhelming — just a genuinely enjoyable, well-paced experience from start to finish. Going with a group made it even better — lots of laughs, good energy, and those spontaneous moments you only get when everyone's together experiencing something new. Zoo Miami is a must-visit, whether you're going with a partner, friends, or family. Already planning the next trip back! 🦁🐘🌿

Good zoo, but very hot in summer as we visited in June 2026( better to visit any other cooler period). For kids who don’t nap is the best to plan for a full day stay as they also have water splash park and more things ( for additional fee) to do. The best attraction for our kids was feeding a giraffe ( recommend to buy 12$ leaves pack).
