Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum

Visiting Arizona CAFAB is a worldclass once in a lifetime informative incredible breathtaking experience. All museum and warbird rides volunteers are amazing and super knowledgeable. Their war bird rides pilots, crews, flight coordinators and ground team are all rock solid top notch plane flying, restoration and maintenance masters. After dreaming about it, I booked three rides with them...on their B-25J Mitchell "Made in the Shade", SNJ T-6 Texan and the B-17G Flying Fortress "Sentimental Journey". I consider myself super lucky to have ridden on these 3 planes. These are all individually unique beautiful planes to ride in and loads of fun, from take off to landing. The views from above and experiencing a little of what our WW II heros did, wow...I highly recommend that you visit this museum and, if you can...also book a flight(s) with them! Best decision I ever made...I can't stop smiling!!!

Such an amazing opportunity! I had the opportunity to fly the B-17! The ground staff was so kind to my wife and daughter, and gave them a private tour of the museum as it was closed. The staff is absolutely amazing! You can tell it is full of people who absolutely love their job and are just so proud of our incredible history! There are some very cool aircraft and replicas on site. I look forward to bringing my daughter again with her homeschool group!

Very informative. The aircraft were very impressive and the knowledged personnel were very friendly and eager to share their knowledge. There's a lot of reading to be done if you enjoy such things at a museum so be ready. We'll be going back for sure.

An awesome place to visit, especially if you are interested in history or avionics. Seeing aircraft up close And learning from the docents is a great experience. While one of the hangers was open because of a visiting bomber in for repairs don’t be afraid to go in the summer. There’s a small theater with A variety of informative movies for when you need a break. Got invited to fly on the B 25. Such an amazing experience. We took off and flew over Salt River and did a loop around Weaver's Needle in the Superstition mountains. I got to crawl back and get some amazing views and video from the tailgunner seat! Hoping to come back and fly in the B 17!!

It's not huge, but it's very well taken care with some great static displays of different aircraft. They also have rides available on several types of historical aircraft (ww2 era). I took a ride in a B 25. It was amazing, I would recommend it to anyone interested in riding in a piece of history. I would note that all the aircraft that are available for rides are not available all the time. They have everything from small trainer aircraft up to a B 17. Absolutely fantastic museum covering pretty much all of the years of military flight. Starting with a First World War display, including a model of the interrupting mechanism for German machine guns. A great display highlighting Falcon Fields use as No 4 RAF Flying Training School and the ultimate sacrifice of the 23 Cadets that forever remained in Arizona. Next is a bulkhead from the USS Arizona and it's story. Vietnam & Desert Storm era helicopters are next and then back to the World War Two era medium and heavy bombers and the multitude of stories surrounding them. Further around this large hangar there's the evolution of the jet, Korea and Vietnam, plenty to keep you interested but there's more to see. Through a set of doors to the rear there is a mock up of a WW2 briefing room with some films playing. After this is the maintenance hangar where they keep these beautiful warbirds in flying condition, as they should be. Outside the hangar on the apron was a B-17 and a B-25, the B-17 was open allowing pretty much full access to this fantastic aircraft. All of the staff that I interacted with, and witnessed interacting others, were absolutely first class, if they didn't know the answer personally they either directed me to or went and found the person who did. I could have spent all day in this museum but I decided to travel to the Mesa cemetery to pay my respects to the 23 RAF Cadets that reside there. One day here isn't enough, in my opinion, so I'll have to travel back and give it another go. I wholly suggest that you do too as you won't regret it.

If you are a fan of militaria or old warbirds, you HAVE to stop here. For my $20, I was free rein of their campus, including self guided tours of their B17 “Sentimental Journey” and their C47. They also have a MiG-15, MiG-21, two F16s, a Fokker DR1, a Nieuport 15, a F4, and quite a bit more! The docents were helpful and informative. Do yourself a favor and stop here!
