National Civil Rights Museum

Whoever put this museum together did a fantastic job. The service was top notch and the security team were efficient. Very much appreciated. This museum has great value and worth every cent to keep it up and running. Our time there walking around was informative and, of course, heart breaking. Seeing the site of the MLK, Jr assassination just made me cry. I could not stop. My heart was breaking from the walk through to his assassination. But worth every step. Thank you to everyone who make this museum possible.

We bought our tickets online for the opening timeslot and felt at ease walking through with no rush around us. Amazing staff and content throughout. The Motel side had the most content and it could easily be all day to take it in. Minimum 2.5hours to get a good amount in, but I recommend saving at least 45 minutes of your time for the Legacy side across the street where you can see the investigation of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination in extreme detail. So much history put in throughout. I would go here anytime I am near Memphis. It is worth the trip no matter how far!

The national Civil Rights Museum in Memphis Tennessee was chocked full of surprise jewels. It was very educational, and the exhibits flowed well. The insight gift shop offered items of many categories. I bought a sampler of the"green book", which my father had an original published edition that he kept throughout his lifetime. The Legacy building across the street from the Lorraine Motel was another great building with many interesting details regarding the fateful day MLK Jr. was assassinated along with artifacts belonging to the assassination, and timelines providing information regarding local and federal law enforcement involvement and handling of the assassination. This is a must see exhibit to visit.

What an incredibly moving museum. This was my second time visiting and I can't recommend it enough. The first time I went as a young adult with friends and this time with my children. Both times were equally as impactful. Take your time because there is a lot of information. My kids are 10, 12 and 14 and it took us almost 2 hours to make our way through. I highly recommend listening to the podcast Stuff You Should Know: The Assas+$* of Martin Luther King, Jr. Part I & II before you go. It was very informative to get a start to the museum. I also recommend buying your tickets in advance on their site.

This is an absolute **must-do in Memphis**. Visiting the National Civil Rights Museum was a powerful and emotional experience. It’s incredibly educational and eye-opening — walking through the exhibits truly makes you reflect on the strength, courage, and sacrifices of those who fought for equality. You can feel the history in every part of the museum, and it’s both heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. I left with a deeper sense of gratitude and respect for the movement and for those who paved the way. Everyone should visit this museum at least once in their lifetime.

This is a very important historic site and museum in the United States, centered on the Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968. The museum features many excellent displays, exhibits, photographs, and archival newsreel footage that bring the Civil Rights era to life. I especially enjoyed the sculptural exhibits portraying real people and events. I tend to prefer well-lit galleries rather than darker museum spaces, and the layout requires visitors to watch a film before proceeding through a series of linear galleries. While the exhibits themselves are excellent, the design makes it difficult to leave midway through or shorten a visit, since the path continues to the end of the exhibition at the gift shop. Overall, it is a powerful and worthwhile museum experience.

OMG, we went to a birthday party and it was absolutely amazing. First of all the staff that night was the best ever! They all was so sweet and just so professional, they all looked so good. And later we was able to do a self tour and that young lady was just as sweet, too. These days people are so mean and rude and care nothing about customer service but these people made me feel like a Queen. We had so much fun and the young ladies who were security guards made sure we was safe going out and coming back in! Don't get me started on the food, everything hot everything delicious we just wanted water when we first got there but didn't mind waiting. I may book my party here now that we know that's a thing. This night was magical to me and my Boo, thank you so much!

This is a museum that focuses on important history and is very interesting. We didn’t spend as much time there as we could have - it’s a large museum. The exhibits are well done but very heavy in wording so it takes a long time to read everything.
