Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co

Must do!! Better than anything else in downtown Louisville, but better than most bourbon anyways! Local, extremely historical, and one of best tasting bourbons!! What could be better?!?! We did the full 1.25 hour tour that had tastings throughout and then a separate tasting at the end. My brother is a bourbon snob, never heard of Peerless and went away transformed and buying their most expensive bottle because it is awesome!!

I dont even know where to begin because as soon as we walked in the door, we were met by Courtney, who happen to be our tour guide. She greeted us with a warm welcome and soon after the tour began. Once we walked behind the curtain to begin, Corkey peeled back the curtain and walked in to greet us. He talked with us for almost 15mins telling us the history of the distillery and most important, his family history and how they came into the business. He is so much fun and you can feel that he genuinely cares about everyone who walks in that door. The tour was fantastic and it always helps to get tastings throughout the tour to help get the right feel for the product. When we made it to the end, the room where we sat for the remaining tastings was very comfortable and warm. After we finiahed, we walked into the gidt shop where Corkey was sitting behind his desk. We had to buy a bottle and he gladly signed it while talking with us. At that point all we wanted to do was sit on a porch, sipping Kentucky Peerless and listen to Corkey's stories. Thank you guys for a wonderful experience. It felt like we were part of the family.

Nice tour with just the two of us. Martin was our guide and he knew the ins and outs of the industry, the bourbon making process, and what makes Peerless stand out from other distillers. Our tour ran long (1.5 hours) because it was so much fun. Five samples in all. They are one of the few "sweet mash" distillers in KY. They do not have a bar license, so you have to take a tour to sample there "small batch" products.

From the moment we walked through the door we could tell Kentucky Peerless is different. Warm, friendly, felt like interacting family from beginning to end. Jim handled our Saturday tour and tasting, and he was a great host. I can't believe it took me so long to discover Kentucky Peerless. I always use a competitor's double eye for old fashioned, but no more. Kentucky Peerless rye is hands down my favorite now. What a wonderful place, and what delicious rye and bourbon!

I visited 7 distilleries/tasting rooms during my two-day visit to Louisville. Peerless was disappointing. If you don't do a tour, you can have a sample or pour except on the half hour. We decided to wait around 20 minutes to try a couple. Each one oz sample was $8, and the two of us were in a private room with an employee who poured the bourbon. There was no discussion about the bourbon or distillery. Furthermore, I know two of the bottles they were selling at the distillery, I can buy locally in SC for $15 less.

What an unbelievable experience at Peerless. Was in Kentucky for my 40th birthday and we were over served at the last few distilleries. We showed up to Peerless a little late, but our tour guide Martin was unbelievable! His biggest concern was that we got the experience we paid for and not the fact that we were late. On top of that, the bourbon was phenomenal and the experience was even better. 5 stars, please go here, you will not be disappointed. I attached our favorite whiskeys of the tour! We did the tour and tasting, had a great time. Our tour guide Bill was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. The owner was there our day and signed my bottles, had a great conversation with him as well. Highly recommended stop if you ask me.
