⸻ Wekiva Island is such a great place to spend the day. The atmosphere is relaxed and scenic, with plenty of space to hang out by the water, enjoy the views, or grab a seat by the river. There’s a nice mix of things to do — paddleboarding, kayaking, swimming, or just lounging and taking it all in. The property is well-kept, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is easy, and the setup for rentals and check-in is efficient. It does get crowded, especially on weekends, but the vibe stays laid-back and enjoyable. There’s also a bar and food options on-site, so you can make a full day of it without needing to leave. Wildlife sightings are common, which adds to the natural charm. Overall, Wekiva Island is a beautiful, fun, and well-run spot — highly recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing outdoor Florida experience.

For a family get-together, we rented a cabana. It was the best experience! They provide a cooler with ice and some water. You also get an attendant who can bring you drinks from the bar. There is food available, and if you rent a cabana, then you are allowed to bring in your own cooler with food and non-alcoholic drinks. There are seats provided, but we brought more chairs and towels to arrange as the shade moved around. There are different size cabanas depending on your group - from 2 on up. Everything is clean and very family friendly. There are bathrooms, and game areas like volleyball and cornhole. Also an art museum that we did not get to. The water was extremely clear and clean when we kayaked around. You can also rent paddleboards or canoes or bring your own floats. The only thing we had an issue with was a group next to us who grew beyond their space and allowed number of guests over the day. I wish I had brought it to management attention, but didn't want to make a fuss. So do feel like you can if that happens. Everything else felt well organized. I would absolutely go back and plan to do a day with hubby in the cabana for 2 and rent a kayak.

Chill staff and location. Went early on a Monday morning and there were other people there but really not too many at all. I went with one other person and we did the canoe. It was very peaceful and it was easy to spread out and be away from everyone. The wildlife was really fun to see. We came across a small gator and tons of birds and fish

We wanted to go to the Wekiwa Springs but didn’t know it required reservations. The staff recommended going Wekiva Island so we did. We were there on a Saturday around 9 am, took a two-seater kayak and headed to the Springs where the picnic spot is and back. It took about half an hour to get there and a little less on our way back. The island is pretty small but it has lounge chairs, cabanas and a restaurant /bar. There was also a small beach volleyball playfield and by the time we were back around 11, it was pretty busy. We had to sign two waivers but the water is shallow. They didn’t even recommend wearing a life vest. Overall, a pretty good experience.

Beautiful and peaceful place to relax and reconnect with nature. The water is crystal clear and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. The park is clean, well maintained, and the scenery is just stunning. You can swim, kayak, or simply enjoy a quiet walk through the trails. It’s the perfect escape from the city without having to travel far. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Florida. I will be coming back! 💚

Wekiva island is clean, well maintaned, and can get quite loud. There is a $5 entrace fee up until 4 pm. Wekiva island offers food, drinks, cabanas, kayaking (1-2 people), conoeing(2-3 people), and paddleboarding (1 person). You are able to sign the waivers online or in-person. They incluse lifevests(1-3 depending on how many people), and oars to row with. Once you have rented (if you are) a boat/board you can get to a few different springs/parks (be careful because some paths can be up to 8 miles long). The workers are kind and helpful this helps to make the experience smoother and more enjoyable. Wekiva island has many people year-round the most busy season is during April-August and the most busy days are typically Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. (Lots of birds, turtles, and gators(sometimes gators))
