Our third move with Piece of Cake was a complete disappointment. We had used the company twice before for nearly identical moves and had always been extremely happy with the service. That's why what happened this time was so surprising. Our original quote was $7,627. After the crew had already begun packing, we were told the move would cost an additional $8,500 because we supposedly had far more property than originally inventoried. After objecting, the increase was reduced to $6,500.25. We were told that if we didn't agree, the crew could stop work and leave in the middle of the move. Ironically, the foreman arrived complaining that the company had sent him to an entire house without enough movers or even wardrobe boxes. He asked my wife what had happened during the pre-move walkthrough. She told him there hadn't been one because Piece of Cake never performed one. When the move was supposedly finished, the foreman told my wife, "Everything is done." It wasn't. We returned to our old apartment to find more than fifty items left behind, including over 30 framed pieces, furniture, electronics, and enough belongings that I had to hire another moving company to finish the move. The crew also left trash throughout the apartment, damaged a custom frame containing a signed Harry Houdini letter, missed our scheduled unpacking appointment, and, when they finally returned, unpacked a bright blue mouse trap containing a dead mouse directly into our kitchen. We spent until 4:00 a.m. washing dishes and kitchen items and threw away approximately $1,000 worth of contaminated food. We later found they had transported a second mouse trap to our new home as well. Despite all of this, we treated the crew well. My wife bought them pizza, Gatorade, and water throughout the day and tipped the foreman $900. After I documented everything with photographs and compared the inventories item by item, Piece of Cake refused to remove the disputed $6,500.25 charge. Instead, they offered a refund of $1,112.90 while continuing to insist the additional charge was justified. I'm posting photographs so prospective customers can judge for themselves. If Piece of Cake refunds the disputed $6,500.25 charge and reimburses us for the documented food loss and damaged frame, I will gladly update or remove this review. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company.

I had a surprisingly large amount of stuff for a studio apartment, but Piece of Cake handled everything professionally and efficiently from start to finish. The movers were incredibly polite, organized, and respectful throughout the entire process. Despite the volume of items, they worked quickly while still taking great care of my belongings. I also appreciated how accommodating they were with a few last-minute changes and requests on moving day. They handled everything without any issues and made the entire experience much less stressful. Their professionalism, efficiency, and positive attitude really stood out. I would highly recommend Piece of Cake to anyone looking for a reliable and hassle-free moving company.
I truly cannot recommend Piece of Cake enough. As someone who is very much a Type B person (like… didn’t really pack, just kind of cleared things out before they arrived 😅), I was honestly nervous about moving—but they made it unbelievably easy. I had Mickey and his team, and from the second they walked in, I felt completely taken care of. They packed everything up so carefully and efficiently—I didn’t have to prep a single fragile item, and somehow everything made it to the new place perfectly in one piece. The level of attention to detail was actually impressive. They were right on time, super organized, and worked so quickly without ever making things feel stressful. And Mickey specifically made the whole day so fun—him and the team had such a light, positive energy that it completely changed what could have been a chaotic day into something genuinely enjoyable. They were just as helpful at the new apartment, making sure everything was where it needed to be and helping get me settled. Honestly, I barely had to lift a finger—I was answering emails on my phone while they handled everything, which is kind of wild for a moving day. As someone who doesn’t even know where to begin with packing or organizing, they took all the stress off my shoulders. Couldn’t have asked for a better team. They made it feel, quite literally, like a piece of cake.
I have moved a lot of times but I have never EVER been lucky enough to work with Dagoberto and Dalibor from Piece of Cake. Everything was perfect: these guys moved a massive and unwieldy sofa bed, a piano, boxes, a few marble tables, and the care they took to get everything from my mother’s apt in NyC to my home in Connecticut was extraordinary. They were lovely, prompt, and I recommend them to anyone who needs moving help. I will absolutely use them again. Also, Eric, who was the first person I dealt with at Piece of Cake, was wonderful. There were no surprises: the estimate was spot on, nothing was damaged—the piano has thin spindly legs—and I’m truly grateful to these guys. USE THEM and ask for Dalibor and Dagoberto!
If there’s one piece of advice I would give to anyone, it would be to use Piece of Cake Moving. From start to finish, the team was professional, punctual (and by punctual, I do mean on the dot!), and incredibly efficient. They handled all of my belongings with care, making sure everything was properly wrapped and secured before transport. What really stood out was their positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile. Moving can be stressful, but they made the entire process feel smooth and manageable. They communicated clearly throughout the day and were more than happy to accommodate a few last-minute requests. Everything arrived at my new place in perfect condition, and they set up furniture exactly where I wanted it. They made our transition to feeling comfortable in a new place seamless. Couldn’t be more grateful. If you’re looking for a reliable, hardworking, and friendly moving company in Brooklyn, I highly recommend them!
I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Piece of Cake Moving. From start to finish, they were absolutely phenomenal. The team was not only professional but incredibly cautious, courteous, and genuinely kind. They handled every item with care and made what could have been a stressful day feel completely smooth and effortless. Everything was done with such ease and organization—it truly lived up to their name. They turned a complicated move into something that felt simple and manageable. I am beyond grateful for their hard work and dedication. Thank you for making this experience so positive. I would recommend Piece of Cake to anyone without hesitation!
I would give 0 stars if I could. I hired Piece of Cake Moving for what should have been the easiest move imaginable — a one-bedroom apartment, 4 minutes down the road. A storage bed, couch, dining table with 4 chairs, console table, 2 TVs, 16 bags, a laundry hamper, two mirrors, and a vanity chair. That's it. We did everything we could to set this crew up for success. We offered them water, food, and use of our restrooms. We specifically asked them to handle our furniture with care and told them we'd gladly pay extra for careful handling. None of it mattered. The only items that arrived undamaged were the couch and TVs. Everything else looked like it had been thrown off the back of the truck. My $4,500 storage bed was damaged and improperly reassembled — despite reassembly being a service I specifically requested and paid for. My $2,100 console table, $1,400 dining table, $891 in chairs, and even a $150 laundry hamper — all damaged. They also managed to damage the walls of the building itself. After destroying nearly every piece of furniture I own, they offered $881 in total compensation. Their insurance covers next to nothing, and their valuation formula didn't even use the correct New Jersey rate. Nearly $10,000 worth of furniture ruined, and they think $881 makes it right. Instead of my move being a "piece of cake," I was left hysterically crying walking into my new home surrounded by broken furniture. A 4-minute move. We gave them every resource they needed. We were kind, accommodating, and patient. And in return, they treated our belongings like they had no value. Look elsewhere if you care about your things. I cannot stress this enough.
I had an amazing experience with Piece of Cake Moving! This was my sixth move in NYC, so I’ve worked with a lot of moving companies, and they were by far the easiest and most professional. The crew arrived on time, packed everything with incredible care, wrapped every piece of furniture, and handled all of our belongings as if they were their own. Their team was friendly, efficient, and made what is usually a stressful day completely hassle-free. Everything arrived in perfect condition, and I barely had to lift a finger. Their iconic pink trucks are everywhere in NYC for a reason—they’ve built a great reputation, and now I completely understand why. If you’re looking for reliable movers who truly take care of your home and belongings, I can’t recommend Piece of Cake enough!
