Guardian Angel Cathedral stands as one of the most unexpected and meaningful landmarks in the city. In a place famously known as “Sin City,” the presence of this cathedral feels both symbolic and grounding. Architecturally, the cathedral is striking and unlike traditional European style churches. Designed in 1963 by renowned architect Paul R. Williams, it embraces a bold mid-century modern A frame structure that almost feels like a spiritual sanctuary rising out of the desert itself. Its sharp lines and distinctive spire stand in contrast to the surrounding casinos, yet somehow hold their own against the spectacle of the Strip. What elevates the experience, however, is the artistry inside. The cathedral is celebrated for its world renowned stained glass windows, intricate mosaics, and vivid murals. The massive mosaic above the entrance, depicting a guardian angel guiding figures representing prayer, peace, and penance, sets the tone before you even step inside. Inside, the breathtaking stained glass windows, designed by Isabel Piczek, line the structure in geometric harmony, illustrating the Stations of the Cross in a way that feels both modern and deeply spiritual. The dramatic mural behind the altar, titled The Final Beginning, adds a powerful and almost ethereal focal point to the space. Beyond its beauty, the cathedral’s history makes it even more compelling. Its origins are uniquely tied to the rhythm of Las Vegas itself. In the late 1950s, priests began holding early morning Masses, sometimes as early as 4:30 a.m. inside casinos and hotel showrooms to accommodate workers finishing overnight shifts. This effort to serve bartenders, dealers, musicians, and hospitality staff eventually led to the creation of a permanent sanctuary on the Strip in 1963. That origin story alone makes this cathedral feel deeply connected to the soul of the city.

You never lose! When you routinely visit and pray at a Roman Catholic Church. And received a Sacrament! Baptism, Blessed Holy Eucharist, Confession or Marriage! Glory Be To The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, As It was in the beginning and now as ever shall be, world without end, Amen! We don't not want the world to end! The glory be prayer, said during the rosary! Try also the Daily Examen, another prayer. From St Ignatius! Good luck to all our leaders, during this turbulent time. I believe we all want the same things! Compromise! Discussion and Communication is the best place to start. FREEDOM, PEACE, LOVE, HOPE, FAITH, WISDOM, RESILIENCY, JUSTICE, FRUGALITY, SECURITY, PRIVACY, CLEANLINESS, SAFETY . . . What else?

Beautiful building and well taken care of. Gorgeous painted mural behind the altar and incredible stained glass windows. One of the few remaining original buildings from the original Las Vegas Strip.

Beautiful and clean church. We went to the early Mass on Sunday. There was plenty of parking. If you have never been there before, the navigation was a little confusing to get to. Traditional Mass. One downside is that the priest whose 1st language was not English, spoke kind of fast and you couldn't decipher or understand all of what he was saying. In addition to that, the acoustics in the church hall was very echoed and bounced off the walls everywhere. They could raise the volume up much higher for all to hear better regardless also. Music was traditional with hymns. However the choice of music for the Mass we went to was kind of medieval angry organ. No TV monitors to sing along and limited music books. Did not see a gift shop or font to get Holy water.

Visiting from the UK this was where I attended the 1 pm Sunday Mass. The service was very spirituality uplifting as well as the homely. Mass is offered 4 times on a Sunday starting at 7.30 am..9 am..11am & 1 pm,adding there are 2 vigils on the Saturday. It was strange to see a security guard inside the Cathedral though at the same time very reassuring due to the times we live in. Love this Cathedral and there is plenty of parking, though I used a ride share to visit.

Went to Christmas Day mass at 1pm. Mass was about 50 minutes; not overly long at all. The church was welcoming, with a very diverse crowd, & lots of young people. Although crowded, they had people who guided us to open seats. I did not see anyone standing in the back. Parking was easy. The absolute highlight for me was the choir singers. On Christmas, it was just two of them, a young man and woman and they were FABULOUS! The best singers I have ever heard in a church. Both had absolutely beautiful voices.

Two Saturday Vigil Mass convenient options. Beautiful church inside and architecturally intriguing (outside). A bit of peace and holiness in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the strip. No lingering around, though. I was here for Thanksgiving Mass in 2020 and the doors shut if you were late. And, once Mass is over, you need to leave. This is my go-to Church when in LV.
