As soon as we walked in we were greeted and told how to navigate to where the cats were. Once there to interact with the cats, the two volunteers were amazing! They were wonderful at communicating with our family and giving information and gentle reminders about the frequency of sanitizing our hands as we moved to the different spaces to engage with kittens and cats. We are excited to return later this moth to hopefully find a match and have a new family member. We are firm believers that animals choose you, so we are excited for the future if one (or two) chooses us and we them. Thanks SPCA for your hospitality, willingness to educate, and patience with us.

I came into look at cats on 1/17 and the older lady (not the lady with glasses) was extremely rude and over bearing. I went to look at the last cat in the room that had a ‘visit last’ sign posted on it and she began asking me if I used sanitizer (which I did) and was very condescendingly telling me it needed to be the last cat visited and that I didn’t read the sign. I literally didn’t even have time to touch/visit with the cat and didn’t even have enough time to read the sign. This woman stood over me as a knelt down and was literally hovering over me. I was so excited to come in and adopt a cat and she completely ruined the experience and I instantly left. I was very nice to her explaining that I used sanitizer and just wanted to look at the last cat in the room. This woman needs to be re-trained on how she speaks with people because she is literally deterring people from adopting cats. I was honestly so sad she was so rude and unkind when all I wanted to do was potentially adopt that day. I instantly left after she spoke to me - I’d like to also clarify the other woman was KINDLY educating people on using sanitizer before visiting each cat and wasn’t rudely hovering over people trying to visit. I could understand if I tried to visit with this cat and then continued to see other cats but I did not. I did not even have an opportunity to see/touch the cat because she didn’t give me a chance. I will be going elsewhere to adopt unfortunately because I have no desire to run into her again.

Iam absolutely impressed with the devotion and care that these individuals are giving to these animals. I have been to many animals society but by far this is the very best. I was so impressed I'm going to look into volunteering and fostering to help this organization. I'm looking to provide a home for a kitten but I must make sure it's the right fit for my dog and I. The ladies that were at the facility make sure you get the animal that is the right fit. You want the right fit and an animal that is the whole package go here because they are the whole package.

Phenomenal! This is the place if you're conscientious pet parent looking to adopt. Amazing service all through my process of adopting two cats, shoutout to Matt, Jasmine, and Acacia! The passion and love for animals and their humane treatment and quality of care is so readily apparent here. My strongest possible recommendation to visit and donate here to this location :)

I saw a commercial from SPCA in general not Tampa Bay saying how animals are starving and bowls are empty. It touched my heart. I do not give cash to anyone so I went to their wish list on Amazon for Tampa Bay. There was a request for cat food and a request for a case of canned dog food. Most everything else was toys and treats and baby animal formula. I understand all that but I thought I was going to donate to starving animals I did not donate because I did not get that sense of emergency need I donate every year some of the general items requested.

After 13 beautiful years with my little angel Phoebe, she was ill and suffering. I couldn’t afford what my vet charges for euthanasia so I came to the SPCA. I expected it to be transactional and all business, cold. Boy was I wrong! The wonderful ladies at the SPCA bent over backwards to ensure that Phoebe wasn’t scared and gently passed into the next life surrounded by love and true kindness. They also were very sympathetic with me and gave me the time, empathy and space I needed as I wailed in sorrow over losing my darling baby. This was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do and I’m overflowing with gratitude for the ANGELS 😇 working at the SPCA. Thank you all again for holding my hand through this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and warmth will never be forgotten. May you be blessed with peace, love, good health, and prosperity! Best, Kari & Phoebe 💕

I recently adopted this little guy from the SPCA in Largo. The staff was super busy that day with tons of adoptions taking place, but they took their time explaining to me the reason he was surrendered, his previous family’s description of his demeanor, the care he’d received since intake, and the care plan for after taking him home. They provided me with the medicine he was taking and enough food for about a week. Without all of this information upfront on the website, I wasn’t sure I’d be adopting him that day. But after meeting him, verifying he was good with children and other pets, I knew that he’d be a good fit in our home. Thankfully, the store inside the adoption center had everything I needed to purchase right away: collars, leashes, kennels, toys, treats, etc. The process was smooth and the staff were knowledgeable. I was also given a paper describing a successful process of introducing him to our resident dog to ensure the dogs were acclimated to each other. It was incredibly helpful and worked very well for them. It was a very positive experience and there was a great deal of care in the entire process.

Such friendly and helpful staff. Adoption process is fairly quick and simple. I also volunteer here and its been a pleasure getting to help the dogs. Very clean facility considering all the animals they house.
