Powell Gardens, Kansas City's Botanical Garden

This garden is very beautiful and has a wide variety of plants. Along with some water features and art exhibits. Art crafted by locals. Also glass blown art along side the gardens. The geese are friendly enough to walk among and not be attacked. The little church is truly a spectacular installation with clear views through clear and clean glass as well as air conditioning for a well deserved brake. However do make sure you spray yourself with bug spray. Me my wife and son all found ticks on ourselves after playing at the huge outdoor playground. That was the only downside.

We went for Mother's Day with the family. It was busy but not over crowded. We stayed for about 2 hours and got to see about a 1/4 of the place, it is definitely a multi trip experience! Plenty of places to sit and rest in the shade for people who must take frequent breaks. There is also a van that comes around to take you to different areas if you like. There was not wait other than for all our family to arrive. Purchasing tickets is easy and painless however be advised if paying with a card there is a 2.00$ processing fee. Adults are 15$ teens are 10$ not sure on small children but my niece's baby was free. They have a good sized gift shop, sell plants they grow there, and beverages.

I encourage everyone to take the family out while this amazing adventure is open! Dragons and Fantastic Beasts was a day to remember for all! #powellgardens #fantasticbeasts My birthday boy loved every area 🎂 My Aus-some boy found areas to enjoy and room to stim 💙 My teen girl fancied the birds and the beasts through the entire venue! 👑 My fiance was able to move about with ease in the motorized chair 🏍 There was something for everyone!!! We had a great picnic, brought our own lunches and drinks, enjoyed the children's garden, and found lots of areas with AC to keep cool 😎 💧 Splash area helped the kids FULLY emerge in the waterworks, while we sat safely by and took in all the sights and some shade.

This one has been a long time coming. Finally made it out this way and it was so worth it. The gardens were great even though we were there a little early in the season. Super family friendly and there is plenty of places to explore. We were there for their orchid event and it was a wonderful time.

This place is not anything near what it used to be. They’ve let the place fall apart. They’ve left weeds and other plants overgrow their areas. They have a sign that says in 2022 that they were going to renovate the gardens around the island and there is other signs saying garden renovation that were there years ago. They used to have an apple tree orchid and there is only three trees left and the vineyard is still bare. I got a family pass in I believe 2022 and seen the gardens was a mess. I figured it was due to the then recent Covid shutdowns. However we are years past that and it’s worst now then it was before. I messed up and enrolled in a family membership this year sight unseen and realized it was a total waste of money! Even with that said if you go, watch out by the “Friendly Dragon” there is a bunch of poison ivy right up againist the concrete path. It’s very clear that Powell Garden has lost the vision that it once had and that there is no care given anymore for this place. I’m sure Marjorie Powell Allen and her brother George Powell Jr. that started this place would be sad to see what it currently is!

I absolutely adore this place. We went early in the season, and the first day of Painted Gardens. They are working on a few areas within the grounds, but overall it's very beautiful and a great place to spend your time.

Did the Christmas lights here. Due to the extreme cold temperatures and after Christmas, it was pretty empty. The lights were pretty and the path easy to follow. Only complaint was the hot chocolate was more like warm hot chocolate. The employees were very nice and informative.

We have been coming to Powell Gardens for a few years and in my opinion, they are not doing much upkeep and taking care of the place. This year's Orchid Delirium wasn't near as good as last year. There were two green houses with a ton of tropical plants and succulents and there all gone. Last year and this year we went right after a late freeze. I know they have no control over that. It's such a beautiful place and it would be nice if they fixed it up.Oh, please spray some WD-40 on the weather vain out by the lake.
