Fantastic place! The museum and parking are free! It is a fairly small museum, but it sure contains a very meaningful and well thought out collection. I believe they rotate it periodically, but I absolutely loved the exhibitions they have on right now. You can easily browse everything in less than 30 minutes, if you are in a hurry. Highly recommend visiting!

A very nice rotating art museum. At the time of visiting they had contemporary photography and sculptures about people from different cultures living in America and the impact we have on the environment as the main focuses of the exhibits. The museum is smaller than I expected but I still enjoyed it, and would come back again to see what they'll have next. You need to pay for parking at the museum, but entry is free.
We went for the afternoon because we like walking around museums. This museum is small and we were able to go through in about an hour. The sculptures outside or my favorite part. Inside they appear to have rotating exhibits and at the time of our visit (September 2025) most of the exhibits weren’t something I was interested in. However, if you’d like contemporary art, I would recommend going if you’d like museums, it’s free so it wouldn’t hurt to swing by. They also have a small restaurant inside which I was told has good food. We didn’t eat there so I can’t give my own opinion.
Opened in 1994, the museum was founded by collectors Bebe and Crosby Kemper to house and share their growing collection of late-20th- and 21st-century art. The museum focuses on modern and contemporary works, with strengths in postwar painting, sculpture, photography, and new media, alongside rotating exhibitions that highlight emerging and established artists. Free admission makes it an accessible entry point into contemporary art for both casual visitors and dedicated art enthusiasts. Expect to spend a couple of hours in the museum as well as the beautifully landscaped outdoor sculpture park.
Venue is totally amazing. We went to Oil on Linen (brilliant name). Service was a little slow. Food was too spicy for me, gave me stomach ache. Even the salad was too spicy for my delicate mouth. But it was beautifully presented. Our server did get some of our bills confused, which was a little embarrassing. But all in all a wonderful few hours.
Great night with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra. Special event, lots of fun. The museum is a place we will visit again with the rotation of contemporary artists.
Great museum with diverse and very relevant exhibits. It was super easy to enter for free and I had no problem finding street parking nearby. The staff were very accessible and attentive, and allowed us to view all the art in the internal cafe even thought it was closed at the time.
Nice Contemporary Art Museum. Small but it was free so no complaints there. Go to the information desk first to get information about the art pieces that are there. One important thing to note is that you can’t walk into the exhibit area with a drink, although there are no signs anywhere telling you that. I bought a to go cup of coffee from the restaurant at the museum since I didn’t see any signs. As soon as I tried to walk into an exhibit area, I was told that he knows that I just purchased the coffee but that I couldn’t bring drinks in to the exhibit area. When I told him that there weren’t any signs and that’s why I bought the coffee, he didn’t really have anything to say. Not the end of the world but something to note. They do have a TV tray where you can leave your drink while you walk around the exhibit.
