Ellis Island is a fascinating place to visit and adds so much meaning to a trip to the Statue of Liberty. If you have the time, don’t skip it—it’s filled with history, powerful stories, and beautifully preserved exhibits that tell the story of millions of immigrants who entered the United States through this gateway. Plan to spend at least 2–3 hours here if you want to explore the museum properly. The exhibits are well organized, interactive, and suitable for visitors of all ages. The audio tour is highly recommended, as it provides personal stories and historical context that make the experience even more memorable. You’ll need a Statue City Cruises ferry ticket to visit Ellis Island, and it’s a good idea to book tickets in advance, especially during peak tourist season. The ferry stops at both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, making it easy to visit both attractions in one day. Arriving early helps you avoid long security and boarding lines. The island is wheelchair and stroller friendly, with accessible ferry service, elevators, ramps, and spacious walkways throughout the museum. Service animals are welcome, but pets are generally not permitted on the ferries or the island. There is a café where you can grab sandwiches, salads, snacks, desserts, coffee, and cold drinks. It’s a convenient place to take a break before continuing your visit, although prices are a little higher than average. Overall, Ellis Island is a moving and educational experience. Learning about the journeys, challenges, and hopes of millions of immigrants gives you a deeper appreciation of American history. It’s well worth visiting alongside the Statue of Liberty and is an unforgettable part of any trip to New York.

L’abbiamo visitato nel periodo natalizio prendendo il Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Ferry incluso nel GoCity New York.
