Hillsboro Brookwood Library

This library is an absolute gem for anyone who values knowledge, creativity, and community. Whether you’re researching for an academic project, searching for your next great novel, or looking for resources for children, the support and guidance you receive are exceptional. One of the most remarkable thing of this library is it has a library of things where you can borrow equipments you want in your daily life and technology access including free printouts. Also it has a working space with 3D printers and sewing machines you can use. The cleanliness, organization, and peaceful environment make it a perfect place to study, read, or simply relax. Every visit feels productive and inspiring. I highly recommend this library to students, families, and book lovers alike. It’s not just a library—it’s a sanctuary for the mind.

Very quiet and nice place to sit and read... The garden behind is also very beautiful and have small walk track .. I always enjoy walking there. .. very serene place...

This is an amazing library and one of my favorite places to visit. The building itself is very large, with both a first and second floor offering a wide range of resources and spaces. The first floor includes a great children’s area, DVDs, information desks, a small gift shop, and even an equipment rental area. The second floor is perfect for studying, with quiet study rooms, large meeting rooms, craft spaces, and a large collection of books. One of the best parts of this library is its beautiful location. It’s surrounded by nature, with two large ponds and scenic walking trails. On nice days, you’ll see many people enjoying the outdoors, along with ducks and geese, which adds to the peaceful atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to enjoy both reading and nature in one visit. The staff are always kind, knowledgeable, and welcoming. They greet visitors with a smile and are very helpful. The library itself is clean, well-organized, and has a calm, inviting atmosphere. Overall, it’s a wonderful space for learning, relaxing, and spending time both indoors and outdoors.

I love love love this library 🥰🥰 it's gorgeous out back with ducks and other birds basically all year (it's seriously the nicest place to sit and eat lunch at the tables outside, but maybe bring baby wipes or something to wipe the tables; the birds are cool to watch, but they really do get everywhere), and they have some really incredible programming. I've attended mindfulness classes, American sign language classes, art and craft classes, artist exhibitions, local author fairs, and so much more! They have a maker space with a number of 3d printers, a heat press, sewing machines, paper cutting tools, and more available for use pretty much whenever the library is open (it's occasionally closed for events and classes), but the staff that are there don't really have the ability to actively instruct folks on how to use the tools or provide support with projects; they are really there more to just supervise and unlock the cabinets. They have an extensive Library of Things with a ton of incredible stuff in it, like baking pans (do you have a toddler that's obsessed with Mickey mouse but you don't want to buy a Mickey mouse cake pan to use once before they get tired of Mickey and then it has to take up space in your cabinet? The library's got you! Check out the pan for free, return it clean, and someone else gets to use it for their kids!) and other cooking equipment like air fryers; crafting tools (including a highly sought after and often on hold paper quilling kit); and even musical instruments, both standard and adapted sensory toy instruments for children with disabilities. The one drawback about it is, while some of the items (like the yogurt maker, ice cream maker, and I'm pretty sure both branches have at least one air fryer) in the Library of Things are available both at this location and Shute Park, some of the really cool stuff (including the aforementioned paper quilling kit) is only available here at Brookwood. Which creates a unique barrier for anyone who relies on the minimal public transit (including disabled people such as myself who rely on Trimet Lift) because this location is so much further out and harder to access. It would be really nice to either have both branches have one of each Thing, or to allow people to pick up and drop off Things from both libraries at either library location. That is to say, people could pick up and return things from Brookwood to Shute Park and vice versa. I think this would honestly cut down on hold times for those items because since Shute Park is so much more centrally located, it would be much more convenient for people to be able to turn things in on time. This library is amazing! They have a library of things where you can borrow stuff like specific hobby equipment or small kitchen appliances etc. The computer/printer area is a fantastic resource and very useful while I'm in the middle of a move and have my printer in storage. Clean and comfortable with kind helpful people.

We love going to the library on rainy days!! This library has (in addition to a great selection) two little play areas! A small structure in the children's books with a lot of different pieces to explore and then a whole room with a bunch of different activities. It does get a little busy at times, especially on rainy days! But it's a great place to get out and about with your littles if it's rainy and you need something that doesn't cost anything.

I love this library! Great collection of games and tools, etc., plus of course books to borrow, and very helpful staff. I enjoy the book displays and find some great choices there. (I sometimes wish that they were a bit more adventurous & less generic, though.) The building is both spacious and welcoming, and the views from the big windows of the pond in back are very nice, too.

Large and well organized library. Our toddler had a good social interaction while there. Nice walking area behind the building as well with a bidy of water and geese/ducks. There was also a small art gallary on the upper floor.
