It was a beautiful day and I throughly enjoyed walking the grounds. It was so moving to go inside the butterfly exhibit to see the hatching butterflies from all over the world. You need to pick a time to see that exhibit when you buy your tickets. I love all the plants and how well they’re taken care of. Friendly staff too and a very good cafe with plenty of seating.

Visited today and had a great experience. The garden is beautiful, well maintained, and thoughtfully designed with a variety of themed areas to explore. It’s perfect for a relaxing walk, taking photos, or just enjoying some quiet time outdoors. The pathways are easy to follow, and there are plenty of spots to sit and take in the scenery. Everything felt clean, organized, and very peaceful. One thing to keep in mind: some sections are currently under renovation, so not all areas are accessible right now. Still, there’s more than enough open space to enjoy, and it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Parking was convenient, and the overall visit felt smooth and worth the trip. I’d definitely come back, especially once renovations are complete.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is one of my top favorite spots to take people when they visit Richmond. No matter what the season, it never disappoints. This was a May and all the roses were going nuts. It was the end of school so there were a ginormous number of students having fun and laughing as they played. It made the day and helped overcome that the Conservatory and most of the grounds around it were closed. No big deal, the side where the kids garden and the Japanese Garden more than made up for it. The rose garden area is such a nice improvement over the years since I started visiting. It's one of my bucket list items to go to the Tea Garden Restaurant. One day I will visit when it's open! Bring your family & friends to this gem of the Richmond area.

I visited in June 2026. I went to see an art exhibit of moth paintings made by an artist colleague of mine. Thanks so much to artist support! I then visited the gardens and the magical butterfly exhibit. I so need more butterflies in my life - so it was perfection! I also found a perineal garden and a very peaceful hilltop bench where I observed a lake. This is such a great spot & reminds me of London’s Kew Gardens. If in area this is a must-see!

A Richmond favorite for weekend strolls. No outside food but they have a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The grounds are beautiful. Very kid friendly with a large fort and playground with a splash area. Tons of shaded trails.

I visited a garden in Richmond, VA, and really enjoyed it. It was beautiful, with lots of lovely trees, flowers, and interesting architectural details throughout. I especially loved walking around, taking everything in, and enjoying all the fresh natural scents. It was a very peaceful and pleasant place to visit.

it is a very beautiful place with lots of plants, would love to see more exotic varieties. We did not get to go into the butterfly atrium as are doing a big renovation. They probably will not be done until June.. We were there for the African violet sale!!

They had a gorgeous selection of flowers in bloom in late March. The gardens and grounds are lovely and worth visiting, even though the Conservatory is currently closed until May 23rd, 2026. They have some of the Conservatory's plants on display in the Visitors Center and in the library building. I'm a member of the American Horticultural Society, so that provides unlimited free entries to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. All I had to do was show my membership on my phone at the Visitors Center, it was very easy to check in. Staff at the Gardens are professional and pleasant, and I loved that the RVA Tropical & Exotic Plants' Plant Swap was being held the day of my first visit! There is also a library, just note that it isn't open on Sundays or Mondays. Overall, a delightful experience, and worth visiting again.
