Fun experience! Great for children and adults alike, keeps everybody entertained for about 3 hours. Also: Nice shop, reasonable pricing, and great staff / passionate volunteers all around. Give it a try!

If you like trains, even a little bit, this is one of the most interesting railroad museums you’ll ever go to. The knowledge of the volunteers and the history behind the different cars and engines is incredible. Definitely recommend. Great for kids and adults!

Very popular place to stop in and visit when in or around golden. Short train ride is pretty cool and exhibits are interesting. Very informative volunteers are there to answer any questions and tell you old railroad stories.

Great place to visit We visited the Colorado Railroad Museum during the summer, and it was a really interesting experience. The exhibits are well organized and educational, and it was enjoyable for both adults and kids. There is a lot to see, and you can learn a lot about the history of railroads. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a great place to spend a few hours. We left with a positive impression and great memories from the visit.

being a family member of a train lover, sometimes trains can get really annoying after awhile. but this museum was so interactive and fun! they had lots of hands on things to do and you were even able to climb into train engines and train cars and cabooses. it was a good way to start the day! there were so many neat train cars and models to look at. if you have any liking for trains i recommend going!

I’ve been to a lot of museums in the Denver metro, some of them have been through the library (like this visit.) This museum is absolutely among the best. We made it in time for the last ride of the day and had such a fun time listening to the “conductor” talk about the history of the goose cars. There are several large train parts you can look into and others you can walk into and even sit in a moment. There’s a shop where repairs take place. You can watch mini trains outside or the model train inside (for a quarter!) Gift shop is also excellent though the magnet price felt high and I wish they’d had paper bags. I’ve added this mentally to where I would go if I have any train lovers visiting or just want another fun outing on a sunny day.

Wonderful journey through history. Displays suitable for kids of all ages. Videos, static displays, model trains, a real train ride, very nice guides, souvenirs to buy, and historical facts out the wazoo.

If you love trains, this is a definite place to visit in Golden, Colorado. It opened in 1959 and is full of information about the history of the Rio Grande Railroad and the single guage track trains of the west. They have many locomotives and train cars on site. Check it out this summer by yourself or with your kids!!
