Zoot Pet Hospital and Luxury Boarding

My wife and I wanted to share our experience with Zoot in hopes it helps other pet owners avoid what we went through during our dog’s stay in August. We brought our 6-year-old Golden Retriever, Moose, to Zoot on July 22nd for their First Day of Daycare Evaluation. He passed with flying colors — the staff said he did great, the drop-off and pick-up process was smooth, and everyone was friendly. The quote on their invoice, “Peace Of Mind For You And Your Pet,” made us feel confident choosing Zoot as our boarding option while we were out of town. Unfortunately, the actual boarding experience during our baby-moon trip was the opposite of “peace of mind.” On August 7th, I received a call saying Moose had been in a “little scuffle” and needed “a few stitches,” but that everything was fine and there was no reason to come home early or have family pick him up. When we returned, the reality was far more serious. We learned Moose had been attacked twice, back-to-back, by two XL Bully sisters who were there for their own evaluation. The first dog latched onto his neck long enough that staff had to physically pull her off. Shortly after, the second sister attacked him as well — while he was already bleeding and shaken from the first incident. Seeing our sweet dog in that condition was devastating. We trusted the facility, followed all procedures, and had every expectation that Moose would be safe and properly supervised. What made this worse was the follow-up (or lack of it). Zoot initially tried to charge us over $500 for medical fees related to the incident, even though they eventually waived them after we pushed back. They told us they would reevaluate their playgroups and retrain staff, yet we have no idea whether that ever happened. After we missed the scheduled stitch-removal appointment and chose to see our regular vet instead, Zoot never called to follow up, check on Moose, or express any concern. One staff member even took the moment — as we were picking up our injured dog — to explain that she didn’t want us to have a “bad image” of XL Bullies. That felt incredibly out of place given what had just happened. For context, we have another dog — a 145-pound Cane Corso — who boards elsewhere at a facility equipped for larger, more intense breeds. We chose Zoot for Moose specifically because we wanted him in a safe environment with appropriate playmates. Looking back, I regret suggesting this place to my wife, because Moose is her whole world and such a gentle, loving dog. We genuinely hope Zoot takes this incident seriously, improves their supervision protocols, and shows more empathy and responsibility when an injury occurs. What happened to Moose should never happen to any dog — especially not during something as routine as a boarding stay. edit: It's worth noting that the Zoot staff told us multiple times this incident was not our dogs fault and the XL bullies needed to be in a "different play group".

You get what you pay for! Yes - boarding is expensive at Zoot. But the attention and care my dog receives here ALONG with the fact that should any issues /injury/sickness arise for some reason, vets are literally in the same building for care make the cost worth it for me. Exit bath included is an added bonus. I'm purchasing a good time for my dog and peace of mind for myself.

I recently brought my two Cocker Spaniels to Zoot Pet Hospital to be checked for possible kennel cough. While the facility itself is clean and modern, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Despite claiming to perform a comprehensive exam, they didn’t check my dog’s ears until I specifically brought it to their attention. After finally examining them, they discovered a pretty bad ear infection—which is unfortunately common in their breed due to their long ears. I can’t help but wonder what else might have been overlooked if I hadn’t spoken up. The staff didn’t come across as warm, welcoming, or particularly helpful. I felt more like I was inconveniencing them than trusting them with the care of my pets. The total cost of the visit was around $400, which might have been easier to accept if the service had felt more compassionate or attentive. It’s disappointing, especially since I live just down the road and had hoped this could be our go-to vet. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won’t be returning.

They were very accommodating and got me in very short notice. They were extremely kind and worked with me on the treatment for my cat. I would 100% recommend Zoot Pet Hospital to anyone that needs veterinary care.

I took time to reflect on this review, because I did not want to react to a single moment. I have used Zoot for the past five years as my cat's vet. We also used their boarding facilities (once). This particular clinic is not suitable for cats, and caters primarily to dogs. Let's talk about our boarding experience: When using the boarding facility, they would not let me see the room that my cat was to use. The package we chose said that he would be provided with a blanket and a toy, but we did not see that he had anything given to him. We paid extra for twice daily socialization and cuddles, but I question if anyone bothered to interact with him, because when we picked him up, he was filthy and scared. We decided that we would not board our cat with them again. On to the vet services: I figured that their vet services would be safe, as I would be present for all shots and such. But the rooms are noisy and ill-suited for cats. Clots of dog fur are all over the place. It's a lot for a cat to deal with, with the noise and dog hair everywhere. The basic vet services are fine, but the environment is lacking. And the finishing blow to us continuing to use them was this: when our cat had an emergency following getting his vaccines from Zoot, they said that they were "really busy" and "weren't sure" they could make time for him. Message received. We have finally switched to a new vet, and the difference is huge. Now we have sound-proofed rooms that are clean (as clean as you can expect at a vet clinic - there's always some pet hair, just not the tumbleweeds of hair rolling across the floor that we saw at Zoot). Further, they helped us with the emergency and identified issues that Zoot did not catch. The new vet actually seems to care about our cat. Ultimately, I just wish I had switched earlier, rather than repeatedly attempt patience with a vet facility that doesn't seem to care about cats. I wish I had switched earlier to ensure my cat got the best care, instead of subjecting him to experiences at a vet clinic where the vets do not seem to care and the environment is stressful.

Lovely place! I took our dog, Belle, here for the first time for a grooming appointment. The staff was very nice and accommodating from the moment we were in contact about a week prior. They made sure our doggie that has a lot of anxiety was taken care of and not in a kennel for too long. The building itself is beautiful and well taken care of. When I was waiting in the waiting room during drop off and pick up, I overheard several customers that were long-time customers being called by name (both owner and pet) and talking about how comfortable and safe this place is for their fur babies. Can’t wait to use this place again for grooming and other services.

We went to Zoot for the first time over the weekend with our 15 year old dog. Our dog was ready to cross the rainbow bridge and Dr. Parish and her staff were more than amazing. This was not easy day for my husband and I but everyone at Zoot made this experience the best it could be. I’m truly grateful we chose to bring our dog here for his last day. Thank you all.

Naomi and I were very impressed by the level of knowledge that each employee shared with us our first day visiting Zoot boarding and grooming facility .Everyone one was very friendly and excited about Prince our German shepherd as they allowed him to get use to the facility. A real team of professionals!
