Kimbell Art Museum

The Kimball museum has an incredible selection, I was so ecstatic to see pieces by Picasso and Monet. The free excibit is large and incredibly beautiful. There are tours available if you choose to attend them, for both the art and architecture. Special exhibits are $18 per adult and I wish I had purchased one but I didn't end up seeing that exhibit. I feel as though lighting could have been better on certain pieces as there were dark spots inside the exhibit. Parking was incredibly easy to find as there are multiple places to find parking. The gift shop had a huge selection and many fun options to purchase from.

One of those rare places where the building itself feels like part of the art. Designed by Louis Kahn, the architecture is calm, airy, and filled with natural light that softly washes over the galleries, creating a peaceful and almost meditative experience. Inside, the collection is thoughtfully curated rather than overwhelming. You’ll find everything from European masters like Monet, Picasso, and Caravaggio to ancient works that give the museum a real sense of depth and history. It never feels rushed or crowded, which makes it easy to slow down and actually enjoy each piece. During our visit, there was also a striking exhibition featuring Buddha Shiva Lotus Dragon. It added a powerful cultural dimension to the experience, blending Eastern mythological symbolism in a way that invited reflection rather than just observation. It stood out because it contrasted beautifully with the museum’s quiet, minimalist architecture, making the galleries feel even more contemplative and globally connected. The atmosphere is quiet, refined, and very welcoming. It’s also easy to pair with other museums in the Cultural District if you want to make a full day of art and exploration. One of the best parts is that the experience feels approachable even if you’re not an art expert. Advice: go early in the day for the most peaceful experience, take your time in the main gallery with the vaulted ceilings, and don’t skip the special exhibits if one is running. The café is also a nice stop if you want to break up your visit. Overall, it’s a must-visit in Fort Worth, not just for the art, but for the feeling of being inside a space that is beautifully intentional and calming.

I visited this museum for the first time to see a special exhibition they had. The exhibition was held in a separate building behind the main museum. I have trouble with stairs and not only are there stairs between the buildings but there are no railings to hold. (So it looks pretty but isn't very practical for those of us that need a little help.) I found out later that there is a completely accessible route but you literally have to walk around the outside of the entire museum and then around the space between the two sides. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just access the second structure directly? The exhibition itself was well done and there were benches around for those who needed them. Most people were very nice although the person taking the tickets didn't even offer us a program, we had to ask. I would go back because it is a nice museum but be aware of the accessibility issues.

I've been to the KAM twice now and have really enjoyed it both times. The first time I went, my bf took me and my son and I took his gf the second time. One time we walked through fairly quickly, the other we took our time, so I like the fact that you can enjoy things at your own pace. Also, it's free, and nowadays that's a rare treat! Next time I think we'll go aha bring a picnic lunch to enjoy outside in the beautiful garden and waterfall area. Highly recommend checking this place out!

We had such a wonderful time this weekend. We enjoyed Myth and Marble and tea time. For Tea we called and booked ahead as well as stated our allergies so they were accommodating. Tea was delicious 🥰. There were sculptures from 500BC. Obviously, these artifacts were restored many times so the team indicates on the placard, which parts of a sculpture was original and which parts were restored. Overall, it was a walk through history and it was a privilege to be able to see it. I’m glad I have access to these amazing works of art not too far from home. I brought my family and we went through the exhibit three times. Once to get an overview (audio guide highly recommended), a second time to reread and look at our favorite pieces, then a third for pictures. We will be back another day

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, with serene reflecting pools and manicured greenery that offer a sophisticated, minimalist backdrop. As a photographer, I love how the soft, neutral palette of the museum acts as a natural reflector, creating an expensive, glowing look for portraits. It is the perfect location for couples who want their gallery to feel timeless, artistic, and incredibly polished.

The Holy Sepulchre exhibit was amazing. Highly highly recommend seeing it. Their other permanent exhibits are really cool too and I believe they're free to browse.

We visited as we were passing through Fort Worth and thought this museum was very impressive. Rembrandt, Monet , Manet etc.. a unique blend of iconic artists. And its free!! Good f ortune smiled on us because we found a docent named Howard Young. He was the only one at this museum who really understood art and the history behind these magnificent pieces. He was great!!
