Flamingo Gardens

For you nature lovers, this is a fun visit. Tram rides every 30 minutes give you a shaded oasis if you are tired of walking. Aviary shows 3 times per day will teach you some cool facts about the animals. You can walk the full experience in 2-2.5 hours. Make sure to bring snacks as the snack shop was closed when we visited.

What a fantastic place to visit. This location is suitable for a quick drop in, or spending the whole day! The variety of plant life is impressive. I love the animal rescue and rehabilitation aspect of their work. When you purchase your tickets you can buy bags of food for the flamingos, birds, and koi fish. Just $1 per bag! A fun was to interact. Just don’t feed the peacocks!

Flamingo Gardens is a truly beautiful experience and feels very different from a traditional zoo. You’re not just looking at animals here — you actually get to interact with many of them, walk alongside exotic birds, see Florida flamingos up close, and even feed some animals in certain areas. The whole experience feels immersive and is perfect for couples, friends, or families because you really need several hours to enjoy everything properly. The animal shows and educational presentations are spectacular. They share the stories behind many of the animals, how they were rescued, rehabilitated, and cared for. Some were abused as pets years ago, others were born in captivity and are now protected and treated in specialized clinics. Some may even return to the wild one day. Knowing that your ticket helps support the animals’ care, medical treatment, and feeding makes the visit feel even more meaningful. The place is full of tropical nature, butterflies, stunning gardens, and so many free-roaming birds that you feel like you’re sharing the space with them the entire time. They also have a very convenient trolley/train ride that takes you through different areas of the park, which makes the experience even more enjoyable, especially on hot Florida days. Everyone working there was incredibly kind and welcoming. Definitely one of the most beautiful, peaceful, and genuinely human experiences to connect with nature in South Florida.

This is a great nature and animal attraction. Not a zoo but a non profit rescue and rehabilitation (and when possible, release) facility that is constantly evolving in its exhibits. The size is manageable for walking and the circulating tram provides a nice quick overview (and a bit of a rest). The paths are mostly shaded. The staff are truly dedicated to their mission. The wildlife encounters are informative and fun. The sculptures throughout are whimsically realistic. Everyone (except the cashier at the snack stand near the flamingos) was friendly and helpful. Free roaming peacocks and other critters make walking around even more fun. Give yourself at least 3 hours so you can see everything and time the educational presentations without being rushed. Things do run on schedule. It was not overly crowded at 2p on a weekday. Every fee was reasonable and we happily added a bit more to the donation boxes. A lot goes on behind the scenes in the care and feeding of the animals. They should somehow let the public see some of that— I’m sure that would compel more donations!! Highly recommended and we’ll return when next in the area. Clean and plentiful restrooms.

Flamingo Gardens is a very beautiful botanical garden. My bf and I went for the first time for my birthday. The lady at the front was welcoming and explained the grounds to us and what there was to see. There was also a tram that I didn't know about that runs every half hour, so we took that. It was a pleasant ride in spite of some visitors who apparently don't know how to be courteous when the driver is talking about the grounds. One of our favorite spots was seeing the Otters. They have a lot of space, and had lots of fun going down their slide. They definitely know they're being watched and enjoy the attention. There's also a beautiful albino peacock that roams the grounds. I couldn't get a good picture, but at one point a lot of peacocks were just chilling on the wedding gazebo they had and it was beautiful. The wildlife encounter show was also worth seeing. I learned some new things, like how apparently pain killers we take use a protein derived from snake venom. My bf and I want to go back again soon!

Flamingo Gardens never disappoints. The flowers were beautiful as always. The peacocks were so fun to watch. I went there to do a photo shoot for a friend and there are so many great places to shoot! We went on. Wednesday so there were a few kids on field trips but mostly quiet.

Flamingo Gardens has plenty of free parking, which made visiting very convenient. After entering, you can purchase admission at the gift shop. They also offer a military discount, which was a nice bonus. The cashiers were especially friendly and welcoming. Most of the staff throughout the gardens were pleasant, although a few came across as a bit condescending. If possible, try to visit on a cooler day. Florida heat can be intense, and it was in the 90s when we went. My daughter was pretty uncomfortable because of the heat, but she still managed to have a good time. The tram tour was definitely the highlight of our visit. I also really enjoyed the animal show. The staff member with short hair who hosted the show was fantastic, she was knowledgeable, engaging, and very funny. One thing I found interesting was learning that Flamingo Gardens is a nonprofit organization, and the proceeds help support the care of the animals. They have also taken in and cared for rescued animal cubs, which was great to hear. Another interesting fact we learned is that all animal care staff must make sure the animals are fed and cared for at the end of the day before leaving, no matter what. It was nice to see the level of dedication they have to the animals' wellbeing. Overall, I would recommend visiting at least once. The tram tour and animal show were both informative and enjoyable, and you'll definitely get plenty of walking in while exploring the gardens. Despite the heat, we had a memorable experience and were glad we visited.

A beautiful escape! The gardens are lush, and seeing so many fully grown flamingos in one place was a highlight. The peacocks are a special treat—they walk right next to you as you explore. Beyond the birds, there’s a great collection of cranes, reptiles, and tropical fruit plants. The tram tour is a must-do to see the whole property. Definitely worth the visit!
