I love the Zoo, it is a local gem to have access to all these animals. I have a zoo membership so I go often just to walk around - it's close to my house. Some of the enclosures, like the walk through bird area / Australian area were closed and others were empty. Some snack machines need fixed or removed. It need maintenance but it's still a nice, small peaceful zoo. Love it!

Visitor notes
A very nice zoo! Lovely, would come back again! The animals looked well taken care of, and we got to see the Rhinos have a little spat! The zoo holds multiple events through the year. For how small it is, it felt big and had a lot of animals. Great place for any one any age.
Went to Felines and Wines yesterday. Probably around 1,000 people there if I had to guess. They had about nine different wine vendors and two for moonshine. Had a few good food vendors there too. Tried a Smith's dog with Busch's baked means and thick bacon pieces. As Tony would say, "Grrrrrrrreat!" Good selection of animals for being a small zoo. They had three different cat/big cat demos. Seeing them feed the leopard meatballs was pretty cool. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.
First time visiting the Erie Zoo & we chose to wait until dusk (8:45ish) to attend the Glow Wild event. The lanterns were so beautiful. The zoo is very walkable for all ages. If we are ever back in town, we will definitely come to the zoo during the day to see the animals.
Beautiful well maintained zoo. My son and I went on a Monday, it was not busy at all. It is handicapped accessible. The train was not in operation that day, so if that's one thing that you're looking forward to, make sure you call ahead. We did not buy tickets in advance and there was no wait getting in.
All of the animals were amazing to see. The only set back was all of the hills. Pushing a wheelchair was a little bit difficult. But the others visitor's were wonderful to lend me a hand. Bless each of them. It made the visit so special. The staff at the gate was a sweetheart.
This was my very first time at the Erie Zoo. I was told by an Erie resident that they used to have a polar bear, but couldn’t afford to take care of the creature and it’s no longer there. I don’t know exactly what happened though. I do believe they should donate the lion or release her somehow because she looks thin. I did have a good time though and you can’t beat the price to get in. There were a lot of cool animals and I hope I got to entertain them while I was there because no matter what zoo I am at I always feel bad for the animals. All I can do is pray that these zoos really take good care of their animals, but I really don’t know if that happens.
For past 4yrs daughter has been going to college up in Erie and had never visited the zoo. Finally graduated this year and we had to make the visit to zoo. Very pleasantly surprised with the zoo. It's small but had nice assortment of animals both large and small. You get to feel up close and personal with animals. Staff is very knowledgeable and seem to be very caring with animals. Would highly recommend a visit if in area.
