Took my parakeet here--he was very unwell. Able to get same day emergency appointment. Staff was great--very professional and handled my bird well. Ran tests and did thorough exam and offered two treatment options. Price was reasonable. Bird now well and back to his normal healthy and lively self (as can be seen by before and after photos!

Have always had good experiences with this clinic. Front staff is friendly, doctors and techs are very knowledgeable and take great care of my animals. Have had to bring my cockatiels in for emergency services twice and they were triaged promptly and thoroughly assessed. Wait time to be seen by doctor can be longer but that’s to be expected with ER services. My cockatiel Alfredo was in stable condition so I was happy to wait while they treated more critical patients. He was still assessed very quickly despite them being busy! Dr. Nicole was wonderful to work with. She explained things very clearly and set my mind at ease. Shoutout to the technician and CSR who helped us as well, they were both very kind and compassionate! Cost was reasonable for the care and treatments my bird received. Thanks for taking such good care of my boys!

They were amazing! I had an emergency with my bunny and was having difficult time finding doctor. with the skills to perform surgery needed. Dr Habhab didn't hesitate. She got him right in and performed surgery successfully and I picked him up next day. All of the staff was kind and helpful I would highly recommend this clinic. I drove 3 1/2 hrs to them and I would be willing to do it again.

We are so incredibly grateful for the staff at Midwest. We’ve been taking our beloved Beanie here for the past few years, and they have been more than helpful. Beanie is ADV+, which was something we learned from another vet office. Her GI system has been the most impacted so far, and Dr. Alia, Dr. Mueller, Dr. Siegel, and Dr. Biancalana have all been instrumental in finding the right medications to prescribe in order for her to have regular bowel movements. We have come in countless times over the past few months, and are incredibly grateful for the entire team. As far as cost goes, it is not cheap by any means but I also understand that vet medicine, especially exotic medicine, is not inexpensive. I would rather pay for a quality vet that we’ve built rapport with then spending less money at a place we do not trust. In short, thank you, Midwest!

Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital took excellent care of both me and my cockatiel Koko during a minor emergency. Koko is a special needs girlie and gets daily meds. While administering her oral medication, I accidentally got some up her nose (note to the pet parents of tiny critters... slow and steady wins the medication administration race). My primary vet, Chicago Exotics, did not have the space for her that day. MBEAH came through in a pinch. I was able to bring Koko in and their kind team treated her and kept her overnight for monitoring. Dr. Biancalana provided text and phone updates even though there were several emergencies and surgeries on her agenda. The front desk team were kind, helpful, and informative. I recommend Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital to anyone in the Chicago land area with a big heart for their scaled, feathered, fur, and finned family.

I had to rush my guinea pig here Sunday. Unfortunately he didn't make it. Although I'm sad I don't have my little buddy with me, I'm glad I took him here. The whole staff was very kind and understanding. They took my boy in as soon as I walked in. The doctor gave him oxygen and made his passing painless. The doctor himself was very sweet! He explained everything to me and my fiance, made sure we could say our goodbyes and talked to my guinea pig with such love and care. You can tell the doctor has a true love for animals. I hope the staff see's this and knows how much we appreciate them. Thank you for all you do!

This is the only exotic hospital I’ll take my birds to. Anytime I’ve gone, whether for an emergency or a regular appointment, the staff is amazing. Could not recommend this place enough.

FIND ANY OTHER PRACTICE!! Midwest Exotics killed my healthy bearded dragon July 2025. One of the doctors performed a routine procedure of expressing my beardie’s impacted femoral pores and went too hard, sent him home to me covered in blood, and he became septic and unresponsive within a day. I had to rush back and have him euthanized. They charged me almost a grand. During his euthanasia, a tech at Midwest Exotics told me that doing such an intense procedure all at once on an older reptile like they did is too stressful on their bodies and can cause heart failure. The “professionals” who performed the extractions the day and a half prior should have been well aware of that and given me informed consent. I typically do the extractions myself over the course of a week, but his pores were impacted because I was unable to care for him for some time while I was dealing with pregnancy complications and was in the hospital. Because he wasn’t getting his usual care, he was slightly dehydrated. I admitted to the vet that I had not been caring for him to the best of my abilities because I was 3 weeks postpartum. When she heard that, she started listing off all sorts of other things that he needed, and pressured me into performing other procedures on him while he was there, including a fluid bolus and vitamin injection. I of course said yes because I trust professionals, and there’s nothing I won’t do to take care of my pets. Looking back, I was definitely taken advantage of because of my current mental state. I had been raising my beardie for almost 15 years. I had taken him to the practice before for a surgery in the past with no issue two years prior. I trusted them. The doctor who did his surgery two years prior has since left the practice. However now, because of the negligence at Midwest Exotics, my boy is gone, and he went out incredibly painfully. No one deserves this. I spoke with the practice manager, she at first said that what happened to him was not their fault. I then asked for and obtained his medical records and they then admitted their guilt, and gave me a complete refund. However this truly doesn’t feel like enough. When I picked up my beardie’s remains from Eternal Memories in Willowbrook, the staff member who assisted me asked me about my beardie, and I told them what Midwest Exotics did to him. They told me that they have clients “sent to them all the time for very similar situations from Midwest Exotics.” This practice has been killing people’s healthy pets for some time, and in my opinion, needs to be shut down and the veterinarians there need their licenses revoked. No one should ever have to go through a traumatic loss of their healthy and loved pet, especially at the hands of professionals that you’re supposed to trust. I raised my beardie from a hatchling and cared for him for over 13 years, he didn’t deserve to die the way that he did. I hope that this review helps even a single person. Thank you for reading.
