Both of my cats spayed and neutered here, very informative and helpful staff. Clean facility, could get busy at times.

I contacted S.E.A.A.C.A. Animal Care and Control to report what I believed to be the kidnapping of a dog. However, I was told by customer service that they could not take any action on the situation. The representative’s exact words were, “Let’s hope they are good people and report it,” which was frustrating and concerning given the seriousness of the report. I was also informed that I could not remain anonymous when making the complaint, which made the process feel even more restrictive. Overall, the interaction left me with the impression that the agency may be overwhelmed and operating beyond its capacity, especially considering that it provides services to 14 different cities. This raises concerns about whether community needs particularly urgent animal welfare issues are being adequately addressed.

I lost my bearded dragon in a nearby city 2 years ago and someone sent her to this shelter. They had her in a somewhat small cage by what I saw and the staff were okay but confusing. I don't know anything else about this place and I would assume it would be an okay place to send a pet but I would recommend surrendering or sending a lost pet elsewhere to people that would probably know how to deal with reptiles better.

Reading that she had to be committed by a certain hour and picked up by another specific hour was devastating. As someone who was desperately trying to save her, it felt like watching a countdown that I could not stop, despite doing everything I possibly could. have never been so heartbroken and disappointed by an adoption process. I sent four emails asking for help. I called repeatedly. I searched for rescue organizations across California and contacted more than 20 of them. I left voicemails, sent emails, and spent hours trying to find someone who could legally pull Toto for me. Not a single one of my four emails to SEAACA received a response. I was not asking for special treatment. I was not asking anyone to break the rules. I was simply asking for help finding a solution. I repeatedly asked if there was any way to save Toto. I even offered to pay for additional boarding time, medical treatment, or any reasonable costs that would give Toto more time and a better chance to reach her forever home. I was willing to financially support whatever was necessary if it meant saving her life. Unfortunately, I never received any guidance or meaningful assistance. What makes this even more heartbreaking is knowing that Toto was not a dog without hope. She already had someone ready to adopt her. She already had a loving home waiting. The only obstacle was navigating a process that, despite hours of effort, seemed impossible to complete in time. This experience has left me questioning whether the current process gives animals every reasonable opportunity to reach a permanent home. If someone is willing to adopt, willing to pay, willing to provide medical care, and willing to do everything possible to save an animal, there should be a practical path to make that happen. I sincerely hope SEAACA reviews these procedures and improves communication with potential adopters. Better communication, timely responses, and clearer guidance could make the difference between life and death for animals that already have people waiting to love them. I will never forget Toto, and I truly hope that future families will not have to go through the same experience that I did.

We adopted our best friend here 4/19/2014. I just want you to know Max has lived a great life. He is slowing down now as he’s almost 12 and he’s traveled all over the U.S. with us.

I got my dog Marcus from this shelter in 2019. Marcus travelled from California to Victoria in Canada and has been the sweetest and kindest dog I have ever encountered. Thank you for everyone here that helped Marcus get to where he is. Much love, Jacqueline Parra

We came in interested in a dog we saw on their website and ended up having to wait in a 30 min line even though we had an appointment to view him. Firstly they need more staff and better customer service. Staff were grumpy. When it was our turn they said we couldn’t interact with him because he was a biter and scared. He was put all the way in the back with the other dogs that were also not available for interaction due to behavior. When we took a look at him we could see he was not aggressive just a scared pup. The staff were not very encouraging in our interest for him but we disregarded as we had felt he was a good dog just scared in his situation. The moment he stepped in our home he was a totally different pup. Licking, playing, affectionate, he is living his best life! 🐶I encourage anyone to not let the staff discourage you from your interest in a dog. They’ve only been with them for a short period of time in this scary place, of course they are going to be cautious around humans! He is also a puppy and teething. Who knows what these poor things have been through, save an animals life!
