This was an interesting festival. It's permanent and run by a big company that travels. It's called different things in different areas. Anyway. Way overpriced food and games. Rides were standard Carnival stuff. The band mob rock played. We left before they took the stage. It's a once was enough kind of place for me. $11 entry fee. $33 for a ride stamp. $10 for a 20 Oz lemonade. $5 refill of that cup. $10 kettle corn. $10 funnel cake.

We always love when we get a chance to go to the National Peanut Festival. Lots of animals and tractors and good food. All the exhibits are fun for the kids and the tables have so much random stuff to offer.

Here’s a professionally written review of the National Peanut Festival in Dothan, Alabama: ⸻ Review: The National Peanut Festival — A Celebration of Southern Heritage and Community Spirit Each year, the city of Dothan, Alabama—affectionately known as the “Peanut Capital of the World”—welcomes thousands of visitors to celebrate its signature crop during the National Peanut Festival. The annual event, which typically takes place in early November, is more than just a fair—it’s a vibrant showcase of agricultural pride, community engagement, and Southern hospitality at its finest. From the moment guests arrive at the festival grounds, they are greeted by a lively atmosphere filled with the aromas of roasted peanuts, the sounds of live music, and the excitement of families enjoying carnival rides and exhibits. The festival strikes an impressive balance between entertainment and tradition, featuring a wide range of activities including livestock shows, agricultural displays, arts and crafts, and cooking contests. One of the festival’s standout features is its commitment to honoring the local farming community. Educational exhibits and competitions highlight the hard work of peanut growers, while the annual Peanut Parade through downtown Dothan brings together schools, local businesses, and civic groups in a colorful procession that captures the spirit of unity and celebration. Musical performances from both regional and national artists add to the festival’s broad appeal, drawing crowds of all ages. Food vendors offer everything from classic fair treats to Southern specialties, with, of course, no shortage of peanut-inspired dishes. The event is well-organized, with ample parking, friendly volunteers, and a focus on safety and accessibility. The atmosphere remains family-friendly throughout, making it an ideal outing for both locals and visitors seeking an authentic slice of Alabama culture. Overall, the National Peanut Festival stands as a proud tradition that not only honors Dothan’s agricultural roots but also strengthens community bonds year after year. It serves as a shining example of how a regional celebration can evolve into a nationally recognized event while maintaining its home town charm.

This was my first trip to the Peanut Festival in my 51 years. I enjoyed saying I finally went. I enjoyed the food, a few exhibits, and the derby. Actually, the derby was fantastic. I was given the ticket to get in and the derby. We had shrimp and grits (pretty good too) and an elephant ear. Family members that did not attend asked us to bring back Kettle Corn and turkey legs. We stood in line for an hour and a half for kettle corn. Then enjoyed the derby. We left once the derby was over, but it took us an hour and 20 min to get out of the parking lot! For 4 turkey legs, 4 kettle corn, and what 2 things we ate there, it was around $220. Previous posts from others talk about only 3 bathrooms. I saw at least 4 or 5 while I was there this year. I recommend going. I just wish they could do something about the exit situation as from all parking lots, it goes from cars lined up in 2 lanes with pedestrian crossing here and there to 1 lane right at the highway. That was the bottle neck.

If you like to ride on amusement rides that get put together hours before they put people on them. If you like to suppress the urge to bless people out for pushing, running in to you and cutting in line then this is a great place to go in November. It is a good place if you have younger children, they have a lot of fun and typically are better behaved than the teenagers and adults where the bigger rides are. It is a bit pricey. $40 a piece for entrance and armbands. If you just buy tickets they are $1.50 a piece and each ride takes at least 4 even for the kiddie rides. They do have "deals" if you buy more tickets at the same time, but if you plan on trying to ride a lot of rides you might as well buy the armband. They have food that some people only go to the fair for , the lines are crazy long though. They have games u can win prizes for, but most are kinda rigged like any fair and they have vendors for pics and merchandise.
