Iowa State Fairgrounds

Granny loves the fair. She loves the fair so much she won’t let me birth children too close to the fair date, cause they will get too hot during the fair. You think I’m joking, the fair is literally a part of our family planning, granny and I won’t miss it! If you have not been to the Iowa State Fair grounds, you’re missing out. So well kept, modernized with A/C all over the place, tons of beautiful architecture, it’s just amazing. Not sold? Granny tells people you gotta smell it! Then she goes on about all the different smells of the barns during the fair. I don’t sell it that way, but she has a point. Anyway, grab your granny and get your bottom to the fairgrounds, you’re gunna love it! Tell em granny sent ya!

Second time ever going. It was a warm one this year, we still enjoyed getting out. Realized after we’d left that we unfortunately didn’t cover everything we’d like to have, but that’s our fault. Didn’t take many pictures. Hope we can make it back in the future and cover everything.

If you have never visited a state fair, then the Iowa State Fair is definitely worth your time. Iowa State Fairs brings a lot of fun, neat, and flavorful foods together in one place. You can also see all sorts of interesting competitions: - Pig calling - Best in fruits, vegetables, and biggest pumpkin. They set off fireworks every evening and they bring in unique bands to play in multiple different on-site venues.

Got to experience the Iowa State Fair for the first time. This was also my very first state fair, so I did not know what to expect. We went early so the place wasn’t packed just yet which was nice. It was quite an experience, lots of food available (although nothing really I would eat) and lots of cattle to see. The animals were my favourite and it was interesting to see the different kinds of competitions that are held. Definitely a first. Nothing I would see back home.

My first experience at the Iowa State Fair. So glad we were able to go! Very crowded, of course, but no particularly long lines which was nice. Surprised to learn that additional tickets were needed for the house show, but it is what it is. Enjoyed the butter cow and seeing the grand champions!

I have gone to the fair every year since I was born. I still enjoy going and seeing all the different events and products. Every year, we do a lemonade rundown and rate all the lemonades. The honey lemonade in the agricultural building is always the best.
