Daytona beach is still best place to bring your family. The bands rock the beach.Parking is 15 dollars in the parking garage.The arcade had a few games down. Im sure the are going fixing them. Cool place to explore while at the beach. I enjoy looking around and the shops nearby. The Daytona Beach Bandshell, a historic coquina amphitheater built by the WPA (Works Progress Administration) in 1937-38, is an iconic oceanfront landmark that hosted major events, from early concerts and beauty pageants to iconic MTV-sponsored spring break concerts in the '80s, serving as a vital cultural hub before falling into disrepair and undergoing a significant restoration in the 1990s. Construction & Early Years: WPA Project: Built as a Depression-era public works project, it opened in 1937 (or 1938, sources vary) and quickly became central to Daytona's boardwalk and tourism. Architecture: A unique Gothic Revival structure, it's built from coquina rock and features a distinctive crenellated roof with a lyre motif. Grand Opening: The first concert drew 25,000 people, establishing it as a major venue. Heyday & Decline: Centerpiece: The Bandshell hosted concerts, beauty contests, and was a major draw for tourists. Hurricane Damage: It suffered damage from hurricanes in the late 1940s and 1960s. Spring Break Era: In the 1980s, it became famous for massive MTV-sponsored spring break concerts, featuring acts like R.E.M. and Mister Mister, attracting tens of thousands and causing town-wide disruptions. Restoration & Modern Era: Restored in the 1990s: After years of neglect, the venue underwent restoration, bringing it back to its former glory. Ongoing Venue: Today, it continues to host a variety of events, including the popular "Sounds of Summer" concert series, maintaining its status as a beloved community gathering spot.

I love the star spangled band line up they have all summer long. Every Saturday at around 6ish they have live tribute bands. Very nice and nostalgic

Nice spot to watch bands or concerts. We visited during the spring when there were no events scheduled but this space was very nice and had a great breeze from the ocean.

Las personas realmente disfrutan gozar de buena música y en vivo. Incluso jóvenes cantando al compás de clásicos de antaño. Muy concurrida el área, no es para menos, puesto que está ubicada en el corazón de Daytona Beach. Aparentemente aprecié seguridad : policías haciendo rondas y ubicados en ciertos puntos. Afluencia de personas es lo más notable. Si buscas un espacio para disfrutar de la playa o música, comprar souvenirs, comer, es el indicado, claro está, SI NO TE MOLESTA LA MULTITUD!!!! No es mi estilo,pero las fotos dan fe de la aceptación que tiene para muchos.

I always look forward to the Summer concert series at the bandshell. The tribute bands are phenomenal and the fireworks are better than expected. Easy garage parking across the street. There are food and alcohol trucks which are very convenient. It's never too hot there even though it's summer. What could be better than being oceanfront listening to great music and having an ice cold cocktail!

Fun place to hang out with my brother. We both grew up near the band shell and performed on stage nearly 60 years ago. Wow-how is that possible. How did we get to be this old. Anyway, it was a great trip down memory lane for us. It looks like the area is family friendly too.
