The USS Lexington is an incredible piece of American history and well worth visiting if you're in the Corpus Christi area. Walking through a real aircraft carrier gives you a whole new appreciation for the men and women who served aboard. The exhibits are informative, the aircraft displays are impressive, and there are countless opportunities to learn about naval history while exploring the ship. Plan on spending several hours here. There is far more to see than you might expect, and history enthusiasts could easily spend half a day exploring the various decks and exhibits. The Lexington sits a little outside the main tourist areas of Corpus Christi, so don't expect to walk to many restaurants or attractions from the ship itself. There are a couple of souvenir shops nearby, and we enjoyed taking a stroll along the small beachfront walkway overlooking the bay. It's a nice place to relax for a few minutes and enjoy the waterfront before or after your visit. One thing visitors should know before arriving is that accessibility is very limited. While there are a few areas that can be accessed by wheelchair, you will only be able to experience a very small portion of the ship. The USS Lexington was never designed with modern accessibility in mind, and much of the ship requires climbing steep, vertical ladders between decks. If you are able to walk with the assistance of a cane, you'll have access to more of the ship than someone using a wheelchair, but there will still be areas that are difficult or impossible to reach. Visitors should be comfortable climbing narrow, straight-up ladders and navigating tight passageways if they want to experience the majority of the carrier. Comfortable shoes are a must, and be prepared for plenty of walking, climbing, and standing throughout your visit. Whether you're interested in military history, aviation, or simply enjoy exploring unique attractions, the USS Lexington is an unforgettable experience that offers a fascinating glimpse into life aboard one of America's most famous aircraft carriers. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the Corpus Christi area.

We really enjoyed visiting the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi. Public parking outside was cheap and convenient, and paying through the mobile app for the parking meter was very easy. Ticket prices were also reasonable. We went around 11 a.m. to noon and didn’t have to deal with any long lines, which was nice. The ship is huge, and there is a lot to see. We spent about 4–5 hours there with our 7-year-old, including a lunch break and some time to rest. If you’re visiting in the summer, definitely bring plenty of water and wear comfortable clothes because some areas inside the ship get very hot and humid. Also, many of the stairs are narrow and steep, so I wouldn’t recommend it for older visitors or anyone who has trouble with stairs. Overall, it’s absolutely worth visiting. It’s a fun and interesting place to explore, especially for families and anyone who enjoys history, ships, or aviation.
Our visit to the USS Lexington was an amazing experience for the families and children participating through Children Visitation Center. The ship offers a unique blend of history, education, and hands-on exploration that kept everyone engaged and excited throughout the visit. The exhibits were well maintained, informative, and provided a great opportunity for parents and children to learn and explore together. Seeing the aircraft, touring the ship, and hearing the stories of those who served created meaningful conversations and lasting memories. The staff and volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming, helping make the experience enjoyable for visitors of all ages. We are grateful for opportunities like this that allow families to strengthen their bonds while sharing educational and fun experiences together. We highly recommend the USS Lexington to any family looking for a memorable adventure and look forward to visiting again in the future!
I’ve been to a few museum ships and this is definitely in my top two. First time aboard an aircraft carrier. We easily spent 2 and a half hours here, but could’ve spent more. Definitely a must do if you’re in the area. It’s all right next door to the Texas State Aquarium. Entrance fee is reasonable at $25 for adults and there a gift shop and cafe in the hangar. 06/21/2026
Extremely good experience for the money. If you want to burn 3 to 4 hours of time and be entertained this is it. Learn lots of stuff via visual, touching and reading. Looking forward to a overnight tour one day!
This is one of the best tours I've done. Make sure you have 4 hours to do the tour. 4 your areas from too to bottom, 3D movie, simulators, information tvs to view. We had a wonderful time on this aircraft carrier museum rich in history. Also loved the plane depicted in Top Gun. This museum is not funded. It relies solely on the admittance fees. It is well worth the cost of entry. You will not be disappointed. Plan a day just for it. You don't want to rush this one. I found kids enjoying it as much as adults if all ages. There is a snack bar and a gift shop. Do not bring beverages on with you as they are not allowed in many of the tour sections. A must on your ya do list!
Naval history and engineering marvels… We visited USS Lexington Museum with our friends and took a self-guided tours through this massive WWII aircraft carrier. It is filled with planes, exhibits, and rich historical accounts. There were steep ladders and lots of walking, but we had an immersive experience. Listed below are the different sections in this museum: 1) Hangar Deck features numerous restored aircraft, the 3D Mega Theater, flight simulators etc. 2) Highlights of FOC’SLE include Pearl Harbor Exhibit, Anchor Machinery, Junior Officers’ Quarters, Officers’ Quarters, CV-2. 3) Gallery Deck has CVE/CVL Exhibit, Captain’s Cabin, Combat Information, Center, Library, Ready Rooms. 4) Lower Decks have Chapel, Crew’s Galley, Engine Room, Pow Exhibit, Scale Model Gallery, Sick Bay, Dental Clinic. 5) Flight Deck has vintage aircraft, launch/landing control stations etc. We enjoyed sweeping, panoramic views of the entire North Beach coast from the flight deck. The museum has well-marked routes and informative volunteers. The food court is clean and provides a selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We also found our ideal souvenir from their gift shop. We spent about five hours fully exploring this place. A must-visit for history lovers and naval aviation enthusiasts.
This is a must-visit if you're in Corpus Christi. Even if you're not particularly interested in history, I highly recommend stopping by at least once. It's not every day that you get the opportunity to explore a real historic warship and experience a piece of history up close. There's also a gift shop where you can pick up souvenirs to remember your visit. You also have gift shops outside incase you don't want to buy from inside. There is no free parking or dedicated parking for this place, but you have plenty of paid parking available nearby. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll need to walk uphill a bit to reach the museum entrance, so it may be challenging for some seniors or people with limited mobility. I'm not sure whether cart or shuttle services are available, so it's worth checking in advance if that's a concern.
