This museum was beautifully done. Really great pieces and neat to walk through. Our kids loved it too. You are able to get up close to some of the equipment too. Really sweet and knowledgeable staff as well. If they still have the smell post card, get it! It's a scratch and sniff and we sent it to some of our family. They loved it!

So happy we stumbled across this hidden gem. It was a pleasant surprise and it is free to visit! The collection of artifacts was amazing and they had everything from personal effects to large scale vehicles. Jackie who worked the front desk was very knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. We enjoyed chatting with her as well as learning some new history facts from her. A visit to the SC Military Museum is highly recommended for anyone interested in history. It offers an educational experience for visitors of all ages. Some young boys visiting with their grandparents at the same time as us were really enjoying the treasure hunt offered for younger kids. We will definitely be back to visit again!
I visited this charming museum on my recent visit to South Carolina. The staff was friendly. The museum had a wealth of objects for its size. I really appreciated the firearms exhibits. They switch exhibits in the 3rd Gallery every 6 months. The current exhibit is on the contributions of South Carolinians to our Space Program. It was interesting. This place is definitely worth visiting.
Great museum for military and history buffs. It’s well laid out and have a variety of different weapons from throughout history. They also have cannons, vehicles and a helicopter. Free admission.
I was in SC visiting family and we decided to visit this museum. It was absolutely worth the time spent. There are plenty of weapons and munitions on display (from the Revolutionary War to Afghanistan) to satisfy those with a specialized interest in military history. Perhaps more importantly, the museum really emphasizes individual stories and overall context (both within the US and South Carolina in particular) for those of us without any military background. There is a general gallery with artifacts dating from English rule to Vietnam, then a room dedicated to artillery throughout history, then a room full of 20th century military vehicles (including a beautifully restored helicopter) that also features more recent conflicts, and finally a gallery with rotating exhibits in the back. We spent about two hours there, but we easily could've spent double that time. I'd also like to highlight the friendly and informative staffer who was working at the front door whose name, unfortunately, I did not get. Thank you for being so helpful! (and I loved your fun eyeglass frames.)
Very informative. Clean and great staff. Little shop at the entrance has good prices as well. They now off a "Tour" on your device (does not read or talk to you) but can translate into other languages for you if needed. Loved the moon rock and Helicopter in the second building. Will come back.
This museum was amazing!! Very well thought out and beautiful displays. All memorabilia & artifacts were presented in a beautiful way to educate on an important parts of our history. This museum is still growing & expanding and is a MUST-SEE for anyone. We will definitely come back to see what all they add!
This museum is absolutely phenomenal! The layout makes it an easy and worthwhile view into the history. It offers a wide array of war memorabilia and was not only visually stimulating but was very informative. Jackie, was the lady we met at the front desk she was informative, helpful, informative, friendly and was absolutely a delight. The museum was FREE. A large range of vehicles and tanks. I would absolutely re-visit this museum again.
