Phodega

I had Viet dip, which is their #1 Bahn Mi, I thought it was fair, though the liquid gold they give you to dip the sandwich in was delicious (I thought it tasted like a beef sandwich and being in Chicago, would rather go to a beef sandwich joint). I also had the Marinated Pork Belly Bahn Mi and it was fabulous. I would definitely go back for that sandwich. I also got some additional jalapeños and some different sauces, which definitely elevated the taste of both sandwiches. The lady at the counter was super nice and made the experience that much better. I ate outside in the sunshine, which I really enjoyed, especially with all the recent rain.

We were long overdue for a visit to Phodega and finally made it out to support our friend Nate. It did not disappoint. The food was outstanding. We’ve eaten a lot of Vietnamese food over the years, and this absolutely holds its own. The Viet Dip was crazy good. Deep, rich broth with serious flavor. I even ended up getting the beef banh mi with a side of Viet Dip because the broth was that good. No regrets. The salt and pepper chicken skins were almost too much to handle in the best way possible. Perfectly crisp, packed with flavor, and totally addictive. The ambiance is just as strong as the food. Great music, great energy, real Phodega vibe. We literally found ourselves dancing in our seats while eating. If you’re on the fence, go. Flavor, atmosphere, and overall experience are all top tier. This is now our go to spot for Vietamese food while in the Chicagoland Area!

Phodega is definitely my favorite place for pho so far. The viet dip is amazing too, and I feel like their chili oil is the best- I love it. My go-to order is the spicy beef because I love a good kick, but the classic beef pho is also really good. I’ve also tried the pork belly sandwich and the lemongrass meat, and honestly, there’s nothing I haven’t liked. I love this place and definitely recommend it!

How hadn’t I been here before?!?! The food is insanely good and it’s such a cool spot. I got the spicy chicken banh mi, lemongrass beef banh mi, fries, and Vietnamese style shrimp eggrolls for my husband and I to split. It was all SO good. I can’t wait to come back.

THE REVIEWS ARE REAL For months, I’d been curious about this spot, and I finally gave in and checked it out. Parking can be a bit of a hassle depending on the time of day or weather, but after about 10 minutes of searching, I’m so glad I didn’t give up. I ordered the chicken pho and the ube horchata. The wait wasn’t long at all, and the service was wonderful. Everyone has their own definition of “perfect,” but for me, this truly hit the spot. The ube horchata wasn’t overly sweet, and it came with a separate cup of ice, which I appreciated. The pho broth was perfectly warm (not too hot), beautifully seasoned, and you could genuinely taste the care that went into it. The portion was generous too as I happily took leftovers home.😆 I also had the chance to chat with Kenny, the mastermind behind many of the creative recipes at Phodega. You can really feel the passion he’s poured into the place just by hearing him talk through his process. He was kind enough to let me take a Viet Dip home to try, and truly, wow, phenomenal . I’m usually hesitant with sandwiches because they’re often too bready or have overly hard bread that tears up the roof of your mouth. Not this one. I had to eat my words (no pun intended). The bread was soft, the meat was juicy, and every bite was better than the last. I’ll definitely be back, and if you’re skeptical, skip the reviews and experience Phodega for yourself.

First time coming here. First time ever trying pho. This was the best experience ever! The food was so good and the customer service was so great! The food came out so quickly! They even helped me read the labels in the back of the drinks since they weren’t in English. So kind and very welcoming. Very clean atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back here with some friends

Highly recommend. I had already taken a few bites when I decided to take a picture so there was 3 or 4 more pieces of chicken on the plate than this. Both the boiled and fried chicken were flavorful on their own but the 3 sauces that I believe were ginger, soy and some type of tangy spice added greatly to the already delicious meal. Even the clear broth soup was amazing. All the staff was really nice and helpful. The music was a little loud inside for me but if I had sat outside or I hadn't just woken up I would not have minded. The decor was fun and well themed.

Kept hearing about the Viet Dip and finally got around to trying it. The concentrated pho broth as the jus is such a good idea. Really a big fan of the sandwich. Nice staff and cute outside eating area as well
