Fatso's Last Stand

First timer and the food speaks for itself. The mac and cheese is good and hearty. Double burger was great. Almost like a five guys burger vibe. Char dog is packed with flavor. Sausage is packed with veggies to keep ya healthy.... or so im told. Hand cut fries were a plus.

My husband and I decided to try this place again for a casual date night and to check this place off our list. We came on a Thursday evening (12/18/25), around 8:15pm When we came before, the credit card machine was down, so we didn’t get to eat previously. We ordered a double fatso combo (double cheeseburger, fries, and drink) and a junior cheeseburger which costs around $28. The service was efficient but not particularly friendly. We decided to stay and eat there. The food was prepared and came out quickly. The burgers were wrapped neatly in the popular silver, wax-lined paper and the fries were in a basket. The burgers were fresh and hot, and the lettuce and tomato firm and crisp, which I appreciated. The cheese was warm-ish, but not melted so I left it wrapped for a couple extra moments. We both came to the conclusion that the charred, crispy edges of the burger were the best part. Other than that, the texture and flavor were unremarkable, and slightly reminiscent of BK burgers back in the day, except in a smaller size. The fries were okay, pretty warm but not quite hot, and even once salt and pepper added, still simply meh. The grease may have been old, since there was a bit of an “aftertaste” that was slightly bitter and didn’t quite taste right. Unfortunately, the “Dr. Fatso” (drink) was the best part of our meal. So…all in all, between the dingy decor and slightly worn atmosphere, the nostalgia of old school burgers and fries as a treat was interrupted not just by the missing flavor and ambiance, but the high prices. I’ve certainly had better burgers of the fast food variety…and in Chicago, there are lots of options all around! From Dillinger’s on the far southside to Au Cheval on the northside, Fatso’s didn’t really rate. Cool with having the experience, but wouldn’t go back. I’d rather go to the Burger King around the corner instead next time. (At least I’d get pickles and grilled onions lol)

Double Fatso smash with cheese and egg... Other reviews highlight the fried shrimp and the char dog but l want to attest to a great cheese burger I just had. The "Double Fatso" cheese burger with egg was juicy and and packed with flavor. Not fancy, just straight delivery of an All-American classic. Very friendly staff. Nearly all the picnic tables were in full affect! also Free parking in the back. 100% recommend!

Well done American fare; I liked the char dog that I got. The fries were crispy but still had good potato heft, and the cheese sauce had more depth than typical nacho cheese sauce. I particularly enjoyed the banana shake. It tasted like they had used fresh bananas and did not skimp out. I tasted my friend's cookies and cream shake that had nice bits of cookie.

I’ve already been here twice in the last 24 hours that’s how good it is! I tried the Chicago dog and it was absolutely delicious. Their fries remind me of Five Guys, which I love. I also had the Fatso Burger with cheese, and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, hot, and made to order.

This place needs to get fixed. They have roof issues so they have buckets for the leaks lol. And is kind of old and dark. The food is good they give you a lot of fries btw.

Their burgers are fantastic. Fries are okay, on the soft side. Fried shrimp was surprisingly flavorful with good texture if you like shrimp. Burgers were the best, smothered in sauce.

The service was fast. The food was fantastic! Chicago style charred dog cooked perfectly. The bun was soft and warm, hotdog had great flavor, and the toppings were perfect! Those fries were delicious as well! My first time at this spot we will definitely be back!
