Fantastic tour of a complex and important founding father's home. Our guide was knowledgeable and did not shy away from slavery questions, nor did those discussions turn into villifying Jefferson. You get to think for yourself. Beautiful vistas. Good parking. They managed crowds well.

I visited this place with my aunt. I came from out of town for vacation. There was so much to see and look at. It was beautiful on every part of the land. If you are a sucker for natural beauty, this is the place for you. I like looking at the histories of the US presidents. LAUREN our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. My favorite part was that small veranda out by the vegetable garden they have. I will becoming back if I come to visit again.

🌟 Our experience at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello was absolutely worthy of five stars—even though we were in a rushed hurry and did not have time to take the full house tour. We only had about 30 minutes, but the Welcome Center alone was surprisingly rich with history. In that short amount of time, we learned so much about Thomas Jefferson—not only as a Founding Father and statesman, but also as an entrepreneur, inventor, architect, and deeply curious thinker. The exhibits helped us appreciate the remarkable range of his mind and the influence he had on early American history. There were also very human and sobering parts of the story. We learned more about his wife, Martha, who died at a young age after a difficult period following childbirth. Thomas and Martha had six children during their ten years of marriage, but only two survived to adulthood. That part of the story adds a sadness and depth to the Monticello experience. I’m sure the full tour of the Monticello home is even more incredible, and we hope to return someday when we have more time. But even if you only have a short window, the Welcome Center alone is worth the visit. It is educational, beautifully presented, and gives you a meaningful glimpse into the life, brilliance, and complexity of Thomas Jefferson. Highly recommended.👍👍

One of American History's treasures that you should not miss by any means if given the chance. Just mins off of I-65 and a must see for all American History lovers. What a beautiful set up with plenty of parking with elevator access for the older folks. Plan for a minimum of 3 hours just to take the house 45 min guided tour and to walk the grounds. You could actually make a full day of it for sure with time permitting. The story and history of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello is more that amazing with this building being built through a journey of 40 years. 3 of us took the tour of which tickets were $ 140.oo at the time of the posting April 2026. This includes unlimited shuttle trips to the house and grave of Jefferson. There are souvenir shops and a place to eat. check out the photos. We were on our way to williamburg va on the blue ridge parkway then saw that this was just 10 mins away. Well worth the time.

Thomas Jefferson was an American Founding Father, the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, and the third president of the United States from 1801 to 1809. He began building Monticello in 1768 on a hill near Charlottesville, Virginia, and spent more than 40 years designing and redesigning the home. Monticello reflected Jefferson’s love of architecture, learning, science, and agriculture, but it was also a plantation where enslaved people lived and worked. When Jefferson chose the inscription for his grave, he asked to be remembered as the Author of the Declaration of American Independence, the Author of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, and the Father of the University of Virginia. He intentionally left out that he had served as the third President of the United States because he valued these accomplishments most

Monticello was quite lovely! It's rich history and beauty can keep you there all day! They have wonderful guided tours inside Thomas Jefferson's house, that range from a 45 minute tour, to longer, more extensive tours. We took our 14 year old daughter and our dogs 🐕 and had a wonderful day, filled with history. My daughter has a two dollar bill she always keeps on her, so it was neat for her to have it on her on the grounds! They also have a beautiful visitor center that serves sandwiches, salads, and kids meals.

Beautiful landscape and mountain views. As a nature lover and history nerd, I loved our visit to Monticello. While several aspects were very sad, it was still very informative. The tour guide was knowledgeable and both the interior and exterior of the estate was fascinating. The ladies in the gift shop were all very nice and helpful.

Visiting , the home of , was an unforgettable experience. The estate is beautifully preserved, with stunning views and rich history in every corner. Walking through the house and grounds really brings the past to life and gives a deeper understanding of Jefferson’s vision and legacy. The guided tours are informative and engaging, and the staff are knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the full story including both the achievements and the complex history tied to the site. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in American history. You leave with a greater appreciation of the country’s roots and the stories that shaped it.
