Went here with a friend for an adult Halloween night - it was SO fun. Lowkey, this is better than the St. Louis science center 🫣 I mean, if I was a kid I’d be here all day. The exhibits were so fun and relatable perfect for kids - made it fun to learn. They made it fun for adults!! It has multiple levels of exhibits, an imax theater, and a bunch of learning rooms. The interactivity of every single thing made it engaging the entire time.

Visitor notes
I LOVED this place! I'm an adult who went with my parents and we had a great time! We primarily went for the Lego exhibit, but ended up spending way more time than originally anticipated at the Frog exhibit (I LOVE frogs), the aquarium and rainforest parts, and the human body exhibit. I definitely recommend this place to both adults and kids!
This museum was kind of a let down for us. We love science and the idea of a quick trip to this museum sounded great for our day in Charlotte but other than the animals it was kind of a dud. The above and beyond exhibit felt like something you would get at a carnival. It just felt cheap. I will say this there is a lot of activities for kids so if you plan on bringing the family this is the spot for you but if you love science and want a quick lesson maybe try something else. Not bad, just alright.
My son and I enjoyed the Discovery Place in Charlotte Memorial Day weekend to see the Brick Studio Exhibit. The exhibit was amazing and fascinating. I only posted a few pics in case you all wanted to visit.
The discovery center was pretty cool, but honestly lacking in activities to do and things to see. It does cater to kids which is nice but it seems like a lot of exhibits are composed of mostly just posters or screens showing stuff. There are some places with some hands on stuff, but again there could more exciting things to see and experience. The best part of this place are the areas where you can see the fish or the frogs. Honestly, I really felt like it was not worth the money for me personally, but to each thier own.
Brought my son here since his nurse recommended it and he LOVED it! He enjoyed seeing the birds and aquarium creatures and overall, the water play area on the first floor. I didn't expect the hollering bird and LOVED the macaw that decided to say hello when I walked into the rainforest and start a staring contest with us 😂 but when we got to the second floor to the engineering area, noticed some of the wheels and interactive mechanisms were broken. Overall, would bring my son back again!
Wow! Way more then I was expecting! Lots of animal exhibits and fish. You could easily spend 4 or more hours here. It's awesome they offer such a deep discount for family's with EBT or WIC in both SC and NC! We wouldn't of been able to afford it other wise and parking was reduced to $10 with EBT/WIC too! 10/10 recommend this museum with the kiddos.
But the tickets ahead of time and you can save like 10–20% if I recall correctly. Exhibits are great the kids loved them I love talking about the exhibits and topics they covered. I think I enjoyed more than the kids. I love Science!
